My parents computer is moving at a snails pace. My niece has downloaded so much crap the memory is used up and it takes forever to do anything. I was thinking about reformatting the hard drive and reinstalling windows. The local computer store charges $150. Can I do this myself? If so any instructions? Websites? Free?

This is pretty straight forward and informative:

I'm working on my parents' computer tomorrow too. It needs a new DVD burner... perfect time for me to upgrade mine and replace their's for free. ;)

yea, pretty easy it just takes a really long time to get everything back on there and up to date.

you can help speed things up by creating a slipstream disc. but that might be a little advanced for the first go around.
