when gm went from external to internal egr, powerdyne had to rework their kit. the kit for the newer s10's comes with jba ceramic coated headers. my question is are they standard headers or are they made specifically for the internal egr? in other words, the headers i got, can i keep them or woudl i have to replace them?

It's not so much the EGR that Powerdyne is compensating for -- it's the air injection. But, to answer the question, they are not standard headers. From what I've seen, they are headers made specifically for Powerdyne by JBA.

The main question is this: do you have air injection? I was under the impression that all of the '01 and newer 4.3s had it. If you do, then you won't be able to keep your current headers. The ones with the kit relocate the air tube so it won't get in the way of the mounting bracket.

That bites! If I want to put on a powerdyne I would have to take my headers off and put some different ones on. SNAP! I'm sticking with the happy juice for now.

Man that sucks, er I mean blows! Do you have to change headers with the Wynjammer?

i do not think that i have air injection because my headers will also fit the early 4.3s. all they are are three tubes converging into one...

I worked on a 2002 that didn't have air injection. It would be best to just go look to see if you have it. You can always block off the air tube on the header with a quick trip to the hardware store. The same goes for the egr port on the older trucks drivers header.

I don't have air injection on my 02. No pump and no tubes or anything coming from the exhaust man. How do they make the egr internal? I don't have that thing on the front of the motor. I have a "95" to "01" s10 and blazer haynes manual and it shows that thing on some of the motors, it covers the tbi and the csfi motors.

EGR will leave the exhaust system just behind the steering shaft. Then it proceeds to the intake behind thr AC with the valve right next to the upper hose. If none, its internal oriented. It runs in a passage near the #1 plug through the head to the intake EGR port!

no. so this pretty much means i can keep the headers i got now or does it mean i can buy to older style powerdyne kit?
