View Full Version : Average life span of fuel injectors (spider set-up)

I have a 99 Blazer with a 4.3L V6. My truck has 100K miles on it. While replacing the water pump, I found the lower intake manifold gasket is going. While I have the manifold off, I'm planning on doing some preventative maintenance because I hate working on the top of this motor. I'm planning on replacing the fuel pressure regulator and distributor rotor/cap while I'm in there. I already replaced the IAC when I was working on another problem. I'm thinking about replacing the fuel injector assembly too. What have you guys seen for the average life of the fuel injectors? Is it worth doing them at this time? Anything else I should be replacing with the intake manifold off (besides the gaskets obviously)?
Thanks.

I forget what the cut off is (year wise) as to when here was an upgrade I think it is around 99 if you are on the old side of the upgrade I would change them in this case other wise you could just make the gamble and leave it if money is tight. do a search and figure out what year the change was made.

Just replace it when it fails. You won't have to do the lower gaskets again, just the upper, so it isn't really tough.

If it was me and I could afford it I would change it.

I'm pretty sure it was '02 when they started changing them over.

X3...since I drive an '02 and it still has the poppet style unit...thought about the new spider as well...$300 seems like alot....but I hear the idle and throttle reponse is better along with slightly better fuel economy with better atomization...maybe wishful thinking...but ehh:)
