i think i solved my originail wheel hop problem, but the solution is a little unconvetional. i was pullin outta my friends house and the person who was ridin with me was asked me to do it. so i got in the road reved it and popped the clutch. sure enough the tires broke traction, squealed, and had smoke rollin off. the burnout was at least 25 to 35 feet long. let me know what you think
It's real bad for the rearend and tranny.
go to eaton springs and get a set of their performance springs. Your only going to get a 2 3/4" drop out of them, but once you add the wedge shims it should put you at 3". Now you need some traction bars. I sure you've heard these will stop wheel hop. NO that's a myth..their main purpose is to reduse pinion angle changes. They will however reduse wheel hop.
Anoughter problem that adds to your wheel hop issue is you have a open differentail. Power goes to the wheel with the least resistance. In the case of hop one is catching transfering to the free wheel. it catches and transfers back. A posi unit would cut down on this.

OOOOOO that is really bad!
You can easily do burnouts in a 4cyl, no need to go in reverse!

one more question why would i be gettin wheel hop even when i power brake it? i know its difficult to do and ive just started doin it but still i didnt think they would hop if the front was planted to the ground. let me know

I know it's cool and all to drop a box of powder on your freind drive, but power braking will not only break the ring gear, strip the pinion gear, and tweak your axels, I have also seen it cause major damage to brakes.

Try this more gas less clutch try not to pop the clutch ease out on the clutch it will reduce the hop poping the clutch jarrs it and the tires catch it and dont let go just try it might help

Reverse burnouts will destroy the reverse clutchpack.

Reverse burnouts will destroy the reverse clutchpack.
How?

It's weaker than the forward.

Reverse grabs the hardest of any clutches. When reverse is chosen, line pressure skyrockets. The low reverse clutch is engaged as well as the band. Clamping force is pretty high.

I had a worn/weakened pack along w/ 3-4 problems. I got the tranny fixed w/ some stronger parts. I was only going by what the mechanic said.
That bastard. I hope he realized there was a line pressure problem causing the failure.
how would clutch pressure differ in a manual, like was being talked about?

Dunno. We started out talking sticks and ended up with auto's.
That's how we do it sometimes.......

It's standard operating procedure around here. Nobody gets nutted up over it. Just weird how it happens sometimes.
