So I finally got around to installing the Mallory 6A ignition box I had.
I was doing some more of the underside resto on the TransAm and ran out of paint and stainless hardware. So I came to a stopping point and needed something to do. I didnt have time to get into the rocker arm swap, tho I think I have everything I need for that now. So the easiest upgrade was the ignition.
Nothing really difficult about the install. Read the instructions and follow the diagrams.
I placed the box tucked neatly between the PCM and FanBox.
I wired the coil and trigger wires straight across to the MSD coil. I put quick disconnects in case of box failure I can quickly re-connect it back stock.
I ran the ground and batt wires up to the battery.
Loomed, soldered, taped, heatshrinked, etc. Other than the big red anodized box, its fairly stealth.
Took all of about 1 hour taking my time.

She fired right up without a hitch. Good thing since it was a used box.
Does seem to crank a bit quicker and idle seems smoother. I gave it a few revs and it seemed responsive. Ill give it a few days of testing, cold cranks, warm cranks, etc to see if I realy noticed the improvements.
Ill drive it later and see how she does laying into it, top end pulls, etc.
