Well I was trying to put a AD244 alternator in my 87 and I guess I shoulda done more homework. Only thing I can figure is I didn't get the wires right in the connector plug and now all hell has broke loose. The truck cranks and runs fine but my temp gauge now acts funny, the voltage gauge reads zero, the dash lights are real dim. The headlights come on but the high beams stay on all the time like I have the quadbeam mod. I've swapped out to the factory alt and its still doing all this. Also it never popped a SES or any fuses that I can tell.
Does anybody have any ideas what could have happened?

Sounds like you may have shorted some goods in the dash...check and/or replace the Headlight switch/dimmer assy. and the relay/switch for the highbeams could be toast as well...as far as the voltmeter...if you can replace just the pointer assy. you might be fine...otherwise...junkyard for a dash cluster;) Wireing that turkey wrong will definately cause problems...since your a first gen...I would have installed the CS144 instead. Hope this helps:D

Yeah I know I will prolly just take this damn thing a trash it and get a cs144. I doubt its the relays for the highbeams but I'll check them. Gonna go swap out the switch tho in a few minutes. As for the cluster I have one I been working on to put in it anyways so that aint a problem.

Unhooked the battery over night and just went out there and everything seems to be fine, lol

NICE!...those free fixes are always nice:D Sometimes the simplest answer is the correct one...I need to take that advice as well...tend to think of the most complex solution for just a simple issue:rolleyes:...ehh...still learnin':D
