This board will not be the same until his return. He has helped more people with tech related issues on this and all the other boards than any ten good people could or would. And he pioneered most of the 4.3 mods that you see in peoples signatures on all the S boards. So I hope he is ok and gets in touch.
Well put, come back to us obi
I am looking for OBI myself, so if anyone finds him let him know we need him.
Oh, I think I've seen him around some.;)

oh man he is so0o0o0o grounded!LOL!
I did receive some information from OBI.
He told me both his kids are doing travel hockey , which I know nothing about being a Texan. He stated 4 nights per week and then Friday thru Sunday he is traveling from anywhere like Pittsburgh, the northern parts of Ohio, Ottawa, Toronto and upstate New York and that takes up to 50 hours each week, that on top of his normal work schedule.
He discussed with me his intent of this site to which I agreed. We would try to build and more general truck site as a base site. This base site would incorperateall GM trucks as one, but be kinda seperate for each individual truck, still keeping us all together as one to make it strong. He modeled it after Chevy Talk which is and all Chevrolet forum, but ours would be just trucks. This Chevy talk forum he told me has tents set up at major shows and events where any member can get into with there vehicle and also being the largest pull power is awarded a trophy etc. No one flames each other and or puts down what particular vehicle they drive as long as its a GM vehicle. A team concept.
Having to put all this time into his kids, then starting the site up has taken all of his spare time to get it going. He has received numberous emails and PM's that just attack the fabric of what he was trying to accomplish. He also stated he tried to explain each move he was making and why to the best that he could only to be knocked down for his effort. Things like mods and admin picking people just couldnt understand. He wanted people outside of the base circle of Planet to run more areas here than the S parts which would be run by S people, that only stands to reason since it is not a 100% S forum. That on top of the way people ridiculed how, what, when and why he did what he did in a limited time fashion took its toll. So instead of taking his time to get this forum up and running, finding and listing into search engines to get people his time was spent correcting, he was answering a barrage of mails,PM's, posts etc. He felt with his limited time to put in, the majority not liking what he was doing, he would step down and leave!
He has been with me going on 5 years and did pretty much build the foundation of Planet that we see today allmost alone. He had a plan there of what he wanted, types of peoples etc which I let him pretty much do as he wished as long and it succeded. I know he kept many a user from even entering the board based on there record at other forums which at first I thought might be pushing it only to find out later it did build us to a very strong forum for both technical information and then non attacking of each other. I have no idea if he will return, as it stands now he said he wont!
So thats what I can share.

I like the "team concept".
That's very unfortunate. I personaly thought he had done a good job setting it up, and think it will be a major loss in leadership and expertise if he were not to return. I certainly hope that he does return, if not to lead to at least teach.

OK, then he DID contact you. . . I had asked him what was going on and that was the response I got, but it was not my place to speak for him. I am glad that you have it straight from him, and not through an intermediary channel.
I knew, at the inception of SicGMTrucks.com, what he wanted to do and what he was trying to achieve -- and WHY, or so I think, he was doing it.
I can only hope that this new forum will not replace the Planet. There are many of us that have too much time and work invested there to see it disappear.
Also, I (for one) would like to do what I can to ensure the longevity of S10Planet, AND ensure the success of this forum as well. Aside from that, I have my own (selfish) reasons for wanting to see SicGMTrucks succeed. . . I plan on buying a Silverado (and a Tahoe for my wife) in the near future, and it would make life MUCH easier to stay on ONE forum instead of establishing myself all over again on a different one! LOL!
If you talk to OBI, tell him we miss him as a leader. I also hope that this site succedes. Having a suburban i have a big truck interest, and I havent been able to find a site that helps us burban owners, the way the planet helped the dime owners. The team thing is awesome, I had never thought of it that way, but it really is, it is a team, or a club, only on a national level, not a local level.
I would love to see this site succeed. i may be looking at buying a 98 or 99 seirra 4x4 in the near future and like z-q8 said it's a pain to establish yourself in a new forum.

I am also glad to here him contact you Authur.I knew also what was going on but I did not want to speak on his behalf either or even try.I joined the Planet because of it's info and setup.I stayed at the Planet because of a old man I thought was just cool as hell and busting with knowledge.OBI has become a real good friend to me and taught me a few things along the way.I will respect his decision to take time off but I really hope he comes back.Because it would be a very HUGE loss to the Planet,to this sight, but more importantly it's members.I want this sight to succeed but I don't wanna see it replace or end the Planet.I am gonna stand behind this sight just like I have the Planet. But I will always be loyal to the Planet first.I just hope a good friend doesn't stay gone.Because no matter how much both sights grow they will not be complete with out the old man.

C'mon people! Obi isn't an "old man" -- he may call himself that, but he isn't. Hell, he's only got 10 years on me -- and I sure as hell am NOT old. . .
LMAO!
But, I keep in touch with him. . . I figure he needs to take some time to relax, forget about the sites for a while -- he cruises more sites than most people even know exist! Spend time with the kids and hockey. It's called a vacation -- we all need one once in a while!
I'm certain he'll be back at one point or another. And if he doesn't come back on his own, I'll drag him, kicking and screaming, and show him just how much poorer both sites are without him!
I'm Supercharged-ZQ8, and I approve this message!
LMFAO!

I for one would hate to see OBI leave...... I have personally been helped by his guidance and insight, and I know that all of the rest of you have, from reading this post I think that a vaccation is exactly what he needs, I too would love to see this site make it big, my family owns all GM vehicles and while 3 out of 4 are s10 trucks, my dad has a tahoe, so having a site that is all incompassing is an awesome idea, and I for one love the team work idea, because while i hate to see the planet go away, but lets face it, if it does...this site is good too we are like a big family we can make it work out
Don't go OBI :D
