I'm super happy with the ride quality, no bottoming at all. Not to mention that its f-ing low. Total cost-$480.00.

You can see the kind of "bottoming" it was doing by that poor rubber bumpstop. Your "how to" was great man, I wouldn't have thought of cuttin bumpstops out until I already had the frame notched, and I really didnt want to notch the frame.

1000% better, my wife refused to ride in it because when we hit bumps she said "It sounds like this thing is going to fall apart", now you could put a cup of coffee on the dash while driving.

awesome drop man! i pondered a 5/6, but settled with a 2/3 due to the fact that it has to drive through the slush and snow of the Iowa Winters. I do like the look of the drop, it looks sharp, expecially with the faded red paint and on a first gen.... makes me miss my Deluxe

I thought CPI's didn't like superchargers. That truck as to be pretty quick with the CPI engine anyway.

I thought CPI's didn't like superchargers. That truck as to be pretty quick with the CPI engine anyway. The CPI kit is cheaper than the kit for 96 up. Only 1 more kit left! Better hurry :D Might be the last one made for the rest of the year!

:eek::eek::eek::eek: I didnt know they made a kit for the CPI, are you seriuos about the last one of the year? The CPI alone is pretty quick, but I'm already thinkin it needs to be alittle faster, lol. For 2k I could justify a v8 swap. How comparable to a v8 would this be? Yea I know lee she needs a paint job, right now its my daily since my dad is borrowing my beater.

The site says it's the last one in stock. He only makes so many a year.
Add 60-75 rwhp to what ever you got now. Thats what the kit will give you.
My rule is, The faster it is the uglier its allowed to be. Screw paint! Go faster! :D

my question for you scott... is my trucks fast/cool enough to be as ugly as it is??
12sws27
10-01-08, 05:28 PM
IDK... how fast is it? Can it do a 2 sec 1/4 mile at 600mph? If so then ..... nope still not fast enough :D J/K Anything 11's and under can have rust holes in the floor board for all I care.

Lol, mine wont do 11's. I sure would like to have a wynjammer though.

So what brand is the drop, and are you gonna put any kind of bumpstop on the rear?

Its suspension max, and no need for bump stops. I cut the factory ones out, I have a good 3in. of clearance between axle and frame. Doesnt sound like much but I've been driving it for a week now and havnt felt it bottom once.
hmmm...now u got me re-thinking my 2/3. :furious3: j/k
but it does look awesome. Gonna have to look into 5/6.

What consists of your 2/3? If you got 2in drop spindles and 3in blocks you didnt waste any money because you can reuse what you got with some 3in drop coils in the front, 3in drop leafs in the back=5/6. Buy some drop shocks and your done. Come on, lower is always goooood.:D
i haven't done anything yet. still in planning stages. I am thinking more of a 4/5 I think.

I recommend you get the wheels, put them on and then try a 2/3 with spindles and leafs. Then if you want to go 1,2,3 inches lower you can without changing anything you already bought. You might find out you only want to go 3/4 cause of the 18's. Just dont forget to correct your pinion angle. There make angled blocks and angled shims. I like the angles shims and the drop blocks that http://www.jagsthatrun.com/ have. But there expensive. I just bought a set of their "U"bolts that come with there block kits. They're heavy duty. I need to take a pic and compare them to the Ubolts that come with beltech blocks so everyone can see the difference.
how do u know what degree of shim to use? is it proportionate to the block height? 1"=2°, 2"=3° and 3"=4° ?
Rear shocks recommended for the 3" leaf?
D
87wildside
10-23-08, 07:31 AM
3° is the most typical shim.
Belltech are probably your best bet for shocks.
so it doesn't matter what size block u have for the degree of shim?
87wildside
10-23-08, 08:16 AM
For a 1"-2" drop you don't need a shim, 3"-5" uses the 3°. I had 3° on a 6" drop with no problems but I'm sure the pinion angle was wrong.
Non of this applies to a 2 piece driveshaft. That's a nightmare....lol

Theres away to figue out the pinion angle. I read it somewhere. I havnt the slightest idea where. I go by what JTR says. Keep in mind these kit are for stdcab s10's and 2dr blazers w/v8. I run the 3*shim kit on my 4door balzer w/v6 and a 3/3 drop. My pinion anlge probably isnt perfect but its better than before I had them on it. I felf a vibration when i accelerated hard before I installed the 3* shims and raised the trans up 3/4".
Read this. Maybe It'll give you an idea.

Here's some comparison pics on the "U" bolts you get with the jtr soilid aluminum block kits compared to the belltech bolts in their kit.

I like JTR stuff but it is expensive. I have some 2" belltech blocks I'll be using when I drop mine temporally. Eventually I'll switch over to the JTR solid ones. I'll feel better about using them. I dont know if the regular blocks would be all that bad if you are just building a cruiser. I plan on torturing my Jimmy so I'll be scared regular blocks might break or something.
so, I found this on ebay

Never seen a 4" drop leaf. Good, bad, indifferent? Says you don't need drop shocks, but I dunno about that.
