I have an 85 shortbed and looking to lower it. I have coils, spindles, and leafs off of a mid 90s sonoma. Will this kit work on the older truck? All i know about the kit is its a Belltech kit with 2"spindles, 3"springs, and 3" leaf springs. I am not sure how low I am wanting to go though. I want it low but not slammed I need it to be drivable still. Any input is appreciated, also any pics of the older trucks lowered would be helpful. Thanks

5" in the front is a little much. 3-4" is still very drivable. I had a 4/6" drop on this and drove everyday. Rain, snow whatever.

(this is a 4/ 4" in the first pic and a 4/5" in the second)

5 in the front isnt bad as long as you dont let the idiots at the tire shop drive it up on to their lift:furious3:. Anyway, I'm gonna need a new y-pipe. I'll post some pix later I gotta go to work.

I was just told that I will need to put some sort of plate underneath the blocks in the rear. Is this true or can i just bolt up the blocks?

I have been searching the web and wondering what the best lowering blocks are for the money. I am wanting a 3 or 4 inch block should I use aluminum or steel and where is a good place to get them from?

Extruded or solid aluminum, no cast, or steel blocks. The plate is probably a shim with an angle to correct the pinion angle but I would just get angled blocks. Jegs, Summit, JTR (Jags That Run), Stylin' Trucks all have a good selection.

Yea I am planning on putting the blocks on along with the drop leafs. The front is down 5" right now and the leafs only bring the back down 3. Everything but the blocks were given to me from a friend at work. He had given the blocks away so I am still in need of them.

Your gonna have to remove the bump stops then.

x2 on the bump stops. I followed wildside's writeup and had no problems with mine.
