code scanner

I broke down and bought a 30.00 code scanner to see what my check engine light is telling me.I am getting code 32.It says Barometric pressure sensor circuit failure OR EGR valve diagnostic switch-closed during engine start up or open when EGR flow requested.I read somewhere the blow by is prone to blocking those air ways to and around the egr is that right?That EGR valve is less than a year old thats on there.My other code is 42 Electronic spark timing circuit-open or shorted to ground during engine run.OR Direct ignitin sytem fault-bypass circuit open or shorted to ground during engine run.OR Fuel cutoff relay circuit open or shorted to ground.Those are the codes i am getting with the same problems i have since i bought this truck.Wont go over 65 mph and throttle response is super slow.Idles and runs good just real slow.One mechanic says y-pipe collapsed.One said he doing mechanics 30 years only seen one that happened too.He puts his money on timing.Can anyone offer advice please or maybe how to check or eliminate those codes.
