View Full Version : 95 blazer interior lights not working
I just bought a 95 blazer for $800. It only has 117,000 miles on it. It does have a few issues. The interior lights wont come on with the doors or the switch on the dimmer. They will work if I turn them on with the switch by the rear hatch glass. The fuse is good. Any ideas?
Thr 4wd isnt engaging the front end. I will check the obvious vaccuum leaks and stuff and if I cant figure it out I will start a new thread for that.
The engine light is always on.....I will have that scanned at advance auto soon.
Other than that it drives great!
Thanks.....
Knowone has any ideas? Where did all the s10 planet people go?
I wonder if it has something to do with whatever the device is that delays the interior lights from turning off for a short period of time after you close the door.
Any ideas? Where is this relay/timer?

Door switches are notoriously problematic I hear.

There are two types of circuits for dome lights. Negative switched and positive switched. Negative only has one wire at the pin switch while positive switched has two. Figure out which you have first.
If you have negative switched check the bulb socket for constant hot, positive switched look for constant negative. If you have that use a multi meter to check the dimmer switch. If you don't then trace the wires to find the fault in the circuit. BTW, sometimes the circuit is on more then one fuse for some unapparent reason.

I missed this one sorry.
Sounds like the door triggers to me. I assume you tried all doors?. Weird that the dome on the dash doesnt work either.
It is wierd that the switch doesnt work on the dash.....but it does work if I turn the lights on with the rear switch. It doesnt work with any of the doors. I am still thinking that the timer could be the problem.
Besides that. I now realize the power seat doesnt work or the power door locks. Someone ran direct power to the seat motor. I wonder what this caused??? I bet it burned something out.
Anyway...I think this is a seperate problem from the interior light.
I love this blazer but electrical issues have led me to junk vehicles before.
This one has farely low mileage.

If it gets to this point, let me know. Can't let any more good dimes go to the dump.

Check the fuse block right at the fuse. Part of the block may have burned out.

wouldnt that cause the lights to not work at all even with the rear switch?

Do the front dome light's come on with the rear switch?

Your problem is right the opposite of mine. My 2001 blazer interior lights stay on all the time (had to push the override button by the headlight switch to cut them off). Mine's a problem with a door switch though. They will still come on when I hit the remote "unlock" buttom then they go back off. My system "thinks" a door is open due to the bad switch, the alarm won't even activate because of it.
Ok. The buzzer works with the drivers door switch when you open the door. Im thinking it is either the lights switch itself (which also does not illuminate at night with the lights on) or something to do with a timer.

Probably a good idea to get a spare switch and try it out. Easiest fix IMO
Yah I was thinking that too. I will try a new switch and let you all know the results.
The interior lights started working yesterday all of a sudden.

THen there's probably a switch or ground issue. they may go out again.
