now on my brothers '89 blazer he had an oil leak, we narrowed it down to the set (2) lines running from the filter to the block. now we hit a problem :banghead_ it turns out that there is not enough room to get to the bolt on the bottom of the block, it boils down to either dropping driveline stuff outa the way or the oil pan, are there any thoughts on how we should go about this? the line was bad enough that yes in fact we have to replace it, it pulsed with the engine so it has to go, but how are we going to get that last bolt without dropping lots of parts...thanks for the advice guys

im going to predict the future......i see alot of work:D
ah you hit what we call a pain in the ass. and easy little thing with something really hard in the way. usually taking up to 5 time longer to complete the task. good luck
I had the same problem. I took mine to a mechanic and he said it was a pain in the ass and had to drop the "driveline stuff" to get at it. I think the front differential was the main concern but i could be wrong. Faulty memory, happened a couple months ago.

thanks guys we're getting it up on the jackstands right now.... looks like a long day ahead of us.....
I changed mine last March. Yea it's kind of a pain. But you dont need
to remove to much.
First, drain your oil!!!!
To get at everything your going to need to take off the front skid plate,
clutch fan, upper shrowd. You have to jack up the engine by the the oil pan a
little bit (not too much or you can break to motor mount!), and go in from
the front of the car (by the crank pully) with a the correct socket & a
****load of extensions. Have someone crawl under by the drivers side and
guide the socket onto the the head of the bolt that holds the remote lines
on the the block adaptor. Then loosen it, if you have an impact gun it makes
things alot easier.
Once you get the bolt off, you can pull the lines off the block adaptor(watch
for oil. doh). The since you have the fan off you can pull them backa bit,
twist the lines so that instead of going up to the filter adaptor, they go down
and out under the radiator and out the front, and this point your should be
able to work them straight out the front of the vehicle. You may or may not
have to take the lower shrowd off, and jack up the engine a little more to get
the engine end of the lines through, from underneath the engine itself.
To put replacements back in, do this in reverse. Dont forget to put the
washer/gaskets on when you installing the replacements!!! also once you get
the lines back in line with the block adaptor, and make sure their oriented
right and have someone crawl under the drivers side, and guide them on, and
start the bolt into the threads. then tighten them down.
Make sure you have the corret gasket/washers for the ends of the lines!!!!!!!
the look like this -----> Pic (http://img.s10forum.com/album1518/aaz.jpg)
You need 4 of them, 2 for the oil filter adaptor end, 2 for the engine
block adaptor. And if your replacing the cooling lines, you need 2 of those
special wash/gaskets for than too, as well as 2 rubber o-rings for the
radiator end.
I hope ou have good luck while doing this, and hope i helped some.
