How hard is it to change out a heater core in a first gen?

its NOT that bad! i've changed my twice! once because of a leak, second because I had the inner fender off and since its lower a bunch it bottomed out and the tire didn't like the box/blower/heater core.... i put the inner fender back in after that...it rubs on big bumps but alot less work!

The only one I have ever changed was on a 71 Nova. It was hard to reach all the bolts and it came out under the dash, so I am thinking similar.

seriously in the trucks you can almost see it! if you don't have the under dash covers...you CAN see it! its under the vent looking thing...it took me about a hour to get mine changed.... in the glove box there is a little panel that you take out and you can get to the top screws...

its even faster if its cold outside! you cant feel your fingers! hardest part is getting the cover back on...with the old heater you can just mark up the core but with the new one on you gotta be more careful...in fact its better if its warmer cause the plastic get brittle with age and temp , and its eazier to crack it.....

it only pays 1.2 flag hr. 87-93 truck 1.6 on a blazer/jimmy 87-94....but if it deals with you starving or getting a good check you tend to work faster!

I got the new heater core in and it only took about 2 hours and that was stopping to have a couple cups of coffee.

I'd pay someone to do my 2nd gen blazer just to see them do it that fast-LOL
It took me three and a half hour's with clean-up,you need hand's the size of a ten year old sometimes.
And its nice to know everythings gonna work again when I put the dash back together!
I know we were talkin about a 1st gen! Not a 2nd

maybe i'm faster than some....maybe i'm just more skillfull than the people you have been "watching".... I know that there are poeple that can do things faster than I can do but it maybe their "thing"..it take plenty of people to make this world go round...if you don't believe me....I don't really give a crap! all I need to know is that I can do it in that speed if I choose....I also know as a professional mechanic if you don't do things fast and do them right then you will starve....because they only pay you for a "flag" hour and your not going to make much of a living changing oils. and returns only take money away from you not put food on the table.
