i have a 2000 reg cab short bed extreme with a 4.3 and a 5 speed. the current motor has a spun rod bearing, but i have a donor 2002 4x4 blazer. what all has to be changed over? i know that the flywheel has to be swapped for the 5 speed, but i dont know what else?

Other than your flywheel and clutch, you should be good to go. If its a direct 4.3 for 4.3..should be a direct bolt in and hook up. Only thing I would be questionable about is the oil pan, a quick visual inspection would be needed there.

any advice on a 2.2 out of a 95 s10, into a 4.3 out of an 89 chevy blazer

Got me stumped. Is the 4.3L a throttle body injected engine?

That's it. They both use the same oil pan & sensors. Change out the flywheel like you said & you'll be good to go.

4.3 uses a different bellhousing pattern than the 2.2. You'd need to use a 2.2's trans & problably mod the trans crossmember to fit it. You'll need the PCM for the 2.2 & trans. You'd more than likely need to swap yokes on the driveshaft so it fits the trans. You'll need to swap fuel pumps to the high pressure pump found in trucks w/ a 4.3 CPI, unless of course you happen to have a CPI truck.. but it's problably a TBI, right? You'll problably need drill new holes & figure out where to mount the engine mounts for the 2.2... really my best advice for this kind of swap is.. DON'T DO IT. IT'S NOT WORTH IT. Too much work for absolutely ZERO gain. The engine is underpowered the way it is. A V8 would be a better conversion, IMO. Sure you MAY pick up 2-3 more MPG from a 2.2 swap but it's just not worth the work. W/ a V8 you lose about 5-6MPG but it's well worth it when you've got power on tap..
