Easy way to add weight when you need it :sonar_125 When it melts, you no longer need it back there :sonar_125

That's funny. Devons ranger has a bunch of snow in the back but the Z has the tonneau cover. Plus it's always in the garage anyway.

That's cool. We don't have to worry about that much here in Alabama, if it snows a 1/4" here the roads close, schools close, and Wal-Mart runs out of milk and bread! LOL :cold_125:

the schools here are heartless. Roads are poorly maintained. And they still make the kids go to school. There could be 6" of ice and snow and yup they're goin to school. They got a little more leniant after my sophmore year. Me and my cuz took my bronco II out and I slid off the road and wrecked it pretty bad. So if its ice they'll let off but if its snow you can count on the kids going. Hell one year we had 13" of snow and still had to go =/. Oh well gettin the kiddies prepared for the real world of workin'. lol

I've done that. Last year I could step off my roof onto the pile of snow I shovelled off of it. I used to haul a bed full of snow from NH, where we had planty, to Ct., where there was none, as a joke.
How's this for ballast? Most people frown on longbeds, but I own my truck to make me money. The more I can haul, the better. Even a full size Chevy short bed can't haul a dually 14 bolt Chevy rear, with Budd rims with the tailgate up! To me the longer, the better. If GM made a Longhorn version of the S10, I'd own it. Does anyone know what a Chevy Longhorn is?

thats just plain crazy
schools here dont let out unless its really cold or there is a bunch of snow in a very short time
in high school I remember having to go to school when we got 10 inches over night
well most had to go to school I got stuck in my driveway only had 2wd and driveway is 350 yards long I got about 30 feet in half an hour and said forget it
at 1/4 inch its not even fun yet need at least an inch before I'm driving down the road sideways and I got 2wd and still on summer tires with about 40% tread left "extra fun"

I use to use old Cylinder heads and a couple bad trannys for weight.

71 and 72 not sure on earlier and not sure if GMC had an equivalent. It was a 3/4 ton or one ton or both longbed pickup with and extension on the front, like someone frenched in another bed section at the headboard. It was at least an 8-1/2' bed and the front seam was visible on the bedside. It was factory. They called it a Longhorn. Makes me think of those 1990's Ford and Dodge extended vans for carrying passengers. The rear overhang was tremendous and you could see the panel seams for the extension.

Looks like 68-72 to me:

I never owned one. A neighbor had a 71 or 72. A friend currently has a chassis from one.
