View Full Version : let me know what you think
Ok so i got a fancy iPod Touch for christmas and downloaded a dyno program on it that uses the accelerometer in the iPod to measure hp and what not. I entered my trucks weight as 3800 lbs. This was a complete guess. I weigh 170 and i have 4 sand bags totalling 280 lbs in the back. I entered the drivetrain loss as 20% (also a guess). These are the results I got.
0-60: 7.8 sec
60': 3.2 sec
1/8 mi: 10.9 sec
1/4 mi: 15.7 sec at 91 mph
peak hp: 238 at the crank or 190 at the wheels with the drivetrain loss factored in.
So i guess what im getting at is, do these sound like reasonable numbers with the mods i have done to my truck? (they are in my sig, minus the efan and pullies since i havent installed those yet)

sounds pretty close
oh and does the weight and drivetrain loss seem right?

i thought stock weight was around 3500 im not sure though I could be way off. I though thats what my door jam said for a xcab 4.3 mmm theres a thread on here somewhere with the weights I thought.

They seem pretty reasonable. Cool little gadget!

I think the WHP is a bit high.

165-175 rwhp would be closer to the mark. Crank hp sounds a bit high as well.
Did you do more than one run and average?
I should get this for my iTouch and try it out.
Thats what I was thinking. Most dyno's I've seen with those mods show 165-175. I think if you put in a weight higher than you are, then you will see inflated HP/TQ ratings.

Oh wait! There's about a 40-50 hp loss through the drive train. How many percents is that? (<redneck for what percentage is that?)

Of course it depends on who you talk too, but some will do 20% loss for auto's and 15% loss for stick.
If you really want to know how close the iTouch gets, find a dyno and calibrate.
I know what my truck puts down, I may play with this over the weekend. The S-10 needs to stretch it's legs a bit.
Hell I haven't had a ticket since I went to Iowa.....
You know what....? I feel like going for a cruise now. :D

I only did one run... It was my first time using the app so i just wanted to see how well it worked. Its called Dynolicious if you wanted to buy it. I'm gonna see if i can get my trucked weighed tomorrow at a scrap yard. Then i'll enter the corrected weight and do a couple of runs. I also thought the numbers were pretty high. Thats why i posted them here to confirm my disbelief. But if they sounded accurate i would be one happy camper
My ext cab is about 3750 and I believe the standard cab is about 200lbs less. Approx.
is that for only for the vehicle weight? So not including your weight

This was what my s10 xtreme weighed in at:
3700 with 3/4 tank of gas and I weigh 180lbs = 3880
http://www.s10planet.com/forum/showpost.php?p=192457&postcount=8
so I would say 3700 + 170 + 280 = 4150lbs

I think mine should be a little lighter than that tho since mine is a single cab, DogsofJune said about 200lbs less for a single... So prob like 3950 lbs
I guess i'll find out tomorrow

Thats what I always hear. I wonder how much depends on the driveshaft? Since there a few variations. For instance, How much on a difenece would there be between a 2 piece and a short single one like on the 2drs Blazer/Jimmys? Hmmmm.... Can be that much right? Or could it?

^ Want to buy some turbo parts? LOL
Does it just do HP calculations? Or could you use it for g-force in turns? Does it record it or just display?

Well, no decent info for me today. The S/C seized up and turns no more.....burned thru the external belt. Fortunately it's not the same belt for the accessories.
At first I thought I took out another carrier bearing but apparently the bearings in the S/C gave it up, beat the impeller all up against the case, got hot and blammo, seized up. That's probably what happened I bet. Hehe...
I guess in the spring I'll send both of them to 928 Motorsports for rebuilds and sell the bastards.
That really blows Dan...sorry to hear it!:(

I have quite a few factory tunes, but they are in efilive format. Which PCM do you have, the 0441?

sounds eerily familiar..... If I were you I wouldn't waste the extra money getting any of the special rebuilds from 928 but I'm guessing if you're selling them you wouldn't anyway.

For the $1300 that rebuild costs you can buy a freshly rebuilt XB-1a from superchargerrebuilds.com. If you trade in a thrashed bd11a you can buy a brand new XB-1a for $1400. Had I known that last year I would have never gotten the super rebuild

It saves all the runs you do with it and averages them together, and yes it also measures g-forces in turns and saves that information as well.
I didnt get a chance to weigh my truck today i had to work pretty late and just went straight home.
Sorry to hear about the s/c dogsofjune

But does the XB-1A fit in the BD11 cradle? I have never been able to discover an answer to this. I was told it wouldn't fit due to being bigger, the source was questionable tho.
sorry for whoring your thread dici21!
I've been looking into it for a while and I've never been able to find anything that said it wouldn't bolt right up. I've read a bunch of f150 and mustang threads where they did it without a problem but there's not many XB-1a's around so it's hard to find much practical info. I planned on getting the guys on that sc-rebuilds website to get me some measurements before I did anything. It may be somewhere in this article that they mention the dimensions of the case are basically the same as the BD series headunits but nothing else is shared internally

It's possible that it's taller so it may hit the alternator or something but that would be an easy fix.

Your 1/8th mile time seems a bit slow...
I did a 10.2 @69 in the 1/8th over in lakeland in fl.
I also dont have the g80 or underdrive pulleys.....
Just some info!

I have used a belltronics device that plugs into the cig lighter plug, 200 buck machine, measure G force 0-60ft 0-180ft 1/8 and 1/4 and a lot of other things.
ON mph the damn thing is pretty accurate, I did not set vehicle wieght or nothing, just plug and play, and i done the 1/8 in 10.6 and the 1/4 in 17.1 at 81mph
but on the down side it said truck had 221 hp and mine is a stock 4.3 with k&n airfilter
