I just wanted to post up and say that I love the sound of my flowmaster 40 series. It is an original and not the delta flow.
HAHAHA.... now we have a post in the exhaust section.... :dog_125:

I have to agree I love the sound of Flowmaster 40's too.Now we have a response to the first post in the exhaust forum.LOL :D
How much do they usually run a guy installed? Can you get them in stainless?

I bought mine brand new from ebay. It was 49 bucks including shipping. Then I paid a guy 50 bucks to weld it up and turn the exhaust down.

I also love the sound of my 40 series. I think the only available stainless is the 40 series delta flow.

I'm still wondering how the new Super 40's compare to the 40 Original's. I've had the original on mine for over two years now, and love the sound. The cfm flow rating of them is pretty low compared to most aftermarket mufflers, though. The Super40's supposedly flow much better, less interior resonance (starts to get old cruising below 2200 rpm!) and deeper exterior tone. Anyone tried one yet?

i have 2 of the super 40s on my k5, only about a month old, sound greaaat, i had cherry bombs on there but they were SUPER loud and started to sound like crap after a few months, but the super 40s sound great
I just had a flowmaster 40 series put on my Bravada and it sounds great

I love mine! It is single in dual out dumped. I am thinking of extending the pipes out the rear to muffle it a little more.

That's the set up I'm using and it's not very loud in the cab and I have the sliding rear window. It still sounds real good outside the truck and especially behind the truck.
I know this is against all things trucklike, but I'm thinking about putting some dual ricer fart cans on my 2.5. The cherry glass pack is fine for what it is, but my sister has a Grand am with a stock 3.3L (with less tahn 2500 miles on it- yea just about all my cars have fresh engines, its what I do for fun) and dual fart cans and that thing sounds mean as all hell. Plus since I'm lowering it for better traction and its getting a new paint scheme this summer I might as well go all the way with the rice bit. I'm just hoping I'll finally get some races this summer since no one in a Honnda is stupid enough to try my cutlass and all the Camaro's have already done their thing (I will admit I have been beaten once- by a supercharged z28). I must admit 4 cylinders are a lot of fun just beacuse you're polishing a turd.

Well first off welcome to the board.I love a Cutlass and would love to race you in my TA which is not supercharged if you ever make it this way.Second thing is "are you kidding me!!".You are seriously not wanting to use fart cans are you. Please tell me your whole post is just a joke. Those things look like crap and sound like crap. But it's your car and you have the right to do what ever you want.I would recommend a gibson or dynomax for a 4 banger S10.
i was going to link every to an article on flowrates but I can't find it now and ccan't remeber who wrote it.
I use the flowmaster 40s on my truck and have always used flowmaster on my street vehicles mainly because the constuction of the muffler not so much the performance. the corosive atmosphere can turn an exhast system into scale quicker than the saltroads up north. the hevey gauge steel design lasts longer than anyouther muffler offered in this area.
I was however starteled by the flow comparison with the flowmasters against some of the outher mufflers. I thinck hooker had the best flow of any of them although the warlock muflers didn't make the list. I don't know if it was compired with the new superflows or the older design that i allready knew to be a little restrictive below 3" inlet and outlet, but I though they did better than that.
If anyone knows what article I'm talking about please post it here .
Now as for the rice muffles. I've been told by maney exhaust techs that it's the stainless steel constuction that give there annoying sound and that the mild steel fart cannons will actualy sound ok on a V6 or V8, but i just don't know. They just don't look right exspecialy on a truck.
here's a trick for finding out what kind of tips will look good on a car. Get some metal flashing like they use on roofs or some constuction paper(the metal flashing can be bent to hold a shape better than the constuction paper, but it a bit exspinsive for as little as you need for the mockup) and roll it up to the desire diameter and duct tape it together. now you have a mockup tip. finding a way to hang it is your problem, but I use duck tape and coathangers.
i think i saved it

I did have a article similiar to that one but it had spintech mufflers in it.They flowed really well.I think it was PopularHotRodding that done the test that showed the new super 40 mufflers flowing in the 400cfm range.Which would be about right since they are supposed to be close to there race chambered mufflers.I like the sound of the Dynomax bullets on my TA.Now they flow a crap load and have a REAL agressive tone lol.I think the Edelbrocks sound pretty good too and they flow really well.In all reality the old Flowmaster 40's are not the best flowing muffler that is almost a common knowledge anymore.

Im not that happy with it. When i put on the SLP y-pipe and JBA headers I just bought, im going with a Borla muffler and catco converter. Im currently running the 40 w/ a turndown. Im not sure If I will stick with this, or go w/ pipe(s)
I did have a article similiar to that one but it had spintech mufflers .
anyone got a link to spintech and their sound clips. I've been wanting to hear some because their supposed to be good mufflers and flow well, but nobody around here has ever even heard of them.
just had to throw this in. i heard a super 40 setup the outher day. made my nuts qwiver and they were on a 3.4ltr grand am. I still want to see some number on them though
