ok, im about to get the five speed in my 87. only issue i forsee is that the trans is an 89, which has the electric speedo. mines an 87, with cable driven.

i nabbed the wiring from the speedo sender for the connector, and the instrument cluster. do i need to find any other pieces? anyone else ever done this?

also, the new cluster has only the many wire connecter at the left corner, where mine also has three wires coming out of the back and a green box connected to them. i believe that that is for the fuel gauge.

anyway, someone please learn me on this.
thanks
Michael

The dash harness is different between the mechanical and electronic speedos. They also use different buffers and such.

so if its all different, whats the solution? autometer speedometer and custom gauge cluster? something else?

is there any way to make the electric speedo setup work without re-doing the whole dash harness and everything?

Yeah. Autometer has electronic gauges. Maybe ask their tech support.

You need a DRAC to run an electric cluster.

i think ive just decided to run without a speedo until i scrape up the coin to get an aftermarket electric and build a cluster.
