I saw the how to topic on this mod a while back, but now I can't seem to find it. Can someone link me to it? Also, does it set off the check engine light or throw a code? I have a '97 S10 that just gets the OBD II port scan at emission test time...no sniffer :D . Would I be able to get away with it? Thanks.

old man or bill 4.3L 5spd should be all over this. thats where i got my EGR from. if it does throw a SES you simply drill the hole larger by 1/32. i can't find that how to page either...must have been purged or moved... ??

Over 1000 people run some form of the orignal EGR mod I had developed, and only 2 which were brain fried didnt like it. It doesnt do great wild thing, but does help low end throttle response and power. Planet had all the old write ups and pictures showing the mod and are now gone and I dont have backups!
If you answer you have access to some form of plate steel, a drill bit set and maybe a file or 2, will tell ya one you can do at home!

I'll bring ya up to date.
A year or 2 ago after about 500 peoples had done the mod, this Blazer LT comes along and has reservations about it. But he decided he is gonna make his own to TELL the world what EXACTLY it does. SO he makes one and his truck pings. The whole reason it pings and he lost timing and a bunch of other **** was due to the EGR mod. Rlith ,myself and a few others reinterate what the mod does, how it does it etc along with all kinds of information. He sticks to his guns while we tell him he has another problem all together and are BENDING OVER backwards to help him with it. He will have none of us, were a**holes that dont know ****, yada, yada, yada. Well over the course of a few months it slips out that he ALLREADY had a ping problem which the EGR brought out to a higher attention level. We had allready told him that was the case and the things needed to be looked at to fix it. He got soo mad he flamed myself, S10Planet and others all over the net in everyway shape and form it could be done. I think Rlith and myself took it much further than anyone could imagine and BURIED it into his back side!! He still to this day will not admit that other problems werethen solved and the ping went away to retry the EGR mod, It plain and simple will make your truck ping and whatever!! When Rlith said what he did, it was a millisecond until I KNEW what he meant!!

SInce I dont make the fitting anymore, its fairly easy to make one that works if you have some tools.
You want a piece of flat steel or Alum- 1/6th to 5/16, thicker the better
2 new gaskets for the EGR valve
You trace the pattern of the gasket onto the flat metal
You then trace the holes for the bolts and EGR port.
The side of the EGR that uses the valve(pintle) remains the sam size. The inlet from the intake side will be drilled from 5/32-7/32 depending on if it codes low flow.
Use the 2 new gaskets to install the plate, but no sealer used until you prove it wont code. That way if you have to redrill it, the gaskets should be in one piece and reuseable!

I believe the fitting is part of a tube assembly which ends up at the EGR itself...On the later motors it's just easier to do the fitting than it is to get down to the EGR. The EGR is still the same as the older ones though.
