My extended cab S-10 has an extended warranty on it, and one of my friends says that if I lower the truck with belltech spindles, leaf springs, and toxic shocks, that I probably wouldn't void the warranty. Should I believe him, or should I leave it as is? I don't want to void the warranty, but I would like the truck a bit lower.

I know what you are talking about, my dad also said lowering it would void the warranty.

How much longer is the warranty in effect? If it is only a little while longer (a few months), then do it. If it is a matter of a year or more, then DON'T -- otherwise you just wasted that extra money you spent on the warranty.

You should contact the warranty provider and see what they say. Technically, aftermarket parts do not void the warranty unless they specifically cause the problem. For example, if you put spindles and blocks on it, there is no reason why it should void the warranty on you alternator. I had one on my truck and the shop tried to tell me that a cat-back kit voided the warranty. My response was "what the hell does a cat-back exhaust have to do with my climate controls?!" They couldn't give me a legitimate answer, so it was covered under warranty. Why the hell they were looking UNDER the truck when it was my climate control cluster is beyond me!

The extended warranty is 3 year/60,000 miles, so I don't know if I should. I am also told that S10s generally don't have suspension problems. I am due for an oil change in about 6 or 700 miles, so I'll have to talk to the dealer about all the suspension business then.

lower the some bia and then if it comes up they try to void it then switch it back to stock. if chevy didnt think people were gonna lower the trucks then why did they make the xtreme?

even though it aginst the magnason moss warrenty act(i thinck thats how you spell it) lowering or raising a GM truck will void the GM factory warrenty because they say it will cause drivetrain issues(B/S)...........unless you use factory GM parts. (xtream conversion or zq8 conversion) This really comes down to what dealership you bring it to for warrenty work.

the exstened warrenty is a diffent story. That will depend on the companey supplying the warrenty and what the warrenty covers.

Do you know where I can find out how much it would cost to do an xtreme or zq8 conversion? From what I know, the zq8 has quite a few parts to install.

it's going to cost an arm an leg to use GM parts unless you find a wrecked x in a junk yard

I was under the impression that lowering wouldn't void the warrenty so I lowered my 2002 six months after I got it. The dealer knows its been lowered so I might not even have the option of returning it to stock height if I needed to for warrenty purposes. I was getting a nose bleed driving it around a stock height though, something had to be done!!

most people can get away with a 2" drop on a new truck without voiding the warenty. Like I said it depnds on the dealership you take it to.

bought my truck with no warranty, but now i have another problem. insurance company is cancelling my coverage, saying my truck is unfit for driving. **** passed inspection (thanks to some friends) so i dont know why they are *****ing. now i gotta remove my airtank and switches, etc so it looks like a normal truck, but with shaved door handles and such i doubt im getting covered. gotta do alot of calling tomorrow, i may just get collector's car insurance. we'll see.

What does the insurance company define as "unfit for driving"? What kind of stuff do you have on your truck?

if it passes a safty inspection and is dot leagle your insurance can not say what is fit for driveing(unless you removed the airbar). you must have allstate.

find anoughter insurance companey

nail on the head brother, allstate it is
removed abs, both drivers and pass airbags, airbag suspension, since the air susp is a custom install done by me, they say its not legal. and because of my shaved door handles, in case of an emergency. oh and no windshield wipers. thats all the safety thingies they pointed out.

allstate is a bunch of dixs. I've crossed paths with them severale times. It tool them almost a year to pay when my supension shop burned down and I finally got sick of them droped them completely a couple of years back after a tree fell on my garage and they "tryed" to screw me and i'll be seeing them in court over my truck in April. they won't get a 3rd extension on this and I won't settle out of court.

I use progresive. They are pretty good about getting things done and my agent over looks allot of things when i get renewals. They let me get away with driveing an open wheel roadster with regular liabilty. considering the title is a 2000 builders title it should have allot of dot saftey stuff required in that year. the airbag are going to be an issue anywhere you go because it illigal to remove them. the wipers or an easy fix and the doors just a machanical release somewhere with a posted sign showing where(magnetic signs work best for insurance purposes)
you could try to get a builder title if your state allows it. I shouldn't post this, but the way around allot of the saftey issues is to swap vins and title with an older truck. This is not legale but allot of guys do it in states where it's hard to get a builders title.

If you really want to get them ask for their qualification. most of allstates people don't complete training and you can nail them for sending unqualified ajusters to look at your property. I cost 3 offices their license over my truck. There is huge class action suit getting started against them for this and some outher shady practices right now.

the thing is i dont know how or why they called me in so they can look at it. my policy was good thru june, so someone must have called em up or something, have no clue. looks like i'm getting collectors car insurance and registration. rarely drive the thing anyways so might as well. plus its gonna cost like half, so looks like a bad situation turned into a good one.
