My 2002 Blazer has what appears to be sealed front wheel bearings, yet the maintenance schedule states that they should be re-packed at 30,000 miles. Anybody have any insight into this cunundrum?

you should just be able to pop the cover off and that should give you acess to the nut to get the rotor off. Only the 4x4's have sealed bearings

I think it was around 2000 that they went to the sealed hub style spindle on the blazers maybe even 1998 thats why there is a different spindle from belltech #2102 vs #2101 for the regular S10 but anyways you shouldn't have to worry about it until it goes bad.

Thanks Firefighter. I did pull the ABS sensor and look at the bearing and the grease seems to be in good shape, no discoloration or burnt smell. I've noticed that the sealed bearing is not very free-spinning. It takes a lot of pressure to turn the hub whether the wheel is on or not.
