would a two wheel drive truck be able to plow small drivways with posi traction and some weight in the back?? i had big f*cking wide tires on it before with weight, but swiched to skinny tires and was able to take the weight out of the back and now its good in the snow.....it seems possible if i put a posi in or a some kind of locker and some weight that i'd be able to do a little bit of plowing..........what do you guys think?? possible??

you could do it but be prepared to break stuff a plow is not a very good thing to have on a truck with ifs. the balljoints will wear out faster. Also get your self a bigger tranny cooler so you do not burn up the tranny because plowing will also do that.

niceeee thanks for the good news...i already have a b&m tranny cooler on it..."ifs" is independent front suspension right?? isnt that what 4wd has?? why is a plow bad for this?? also would a posi or a locker with weight make it comparable in performance to a 4wd truck?? THANKS!!

have you ever plowed before? trust me no plow for 2wd it's just dumb. sorry to put it that way but it is. i plow and rarely ever do it 2wd if i do i get stuck fairly fast and i plow with a suburban which has plenty of weight in the back.

how long do the cluches in the posi last?? the only thing i'd be worried about by using a used rear end is the cluches being bad...if i find one that would work is there an easy way to test the posi on it??

You could try one of the Eaton units, or a Powertrax from Richmond. They're pretty well made and I've heard very good things about them -- plus, the install wouldn't be as big of a pain in the butt as an axle swap!

Don't get anything with the Factory GM Gov-Loc (Eaton Gov-Loc) it's a G80 RPO code. If used "lightly" it's fine but i've EXPLODED 2 of them. They just can't take any abuse. I went and got Eaton's Posi Limited Slip Differential. It's a clutch style posi but the big update is that the clutches are carbon friction material and are designed to take a beating. Check it out here http://www.eatonposi.com/prod3.htm

I was tired of wasting money on the factory style junk and just paid for a good one - For the last time! I bought mine at www.drivetrainsuperstores.com for $355.00 but I also got a gear set and a few other things so I forget if they worked the price a bit for me but DO check around! Ebay and other drivetrain places then just wheel and deal the price a little and see what the lowest priced place can do for you. Believe me, the biggest pain in the ass besides the down time of having a blown rearend is paying to have another one properly put in - and when they keep breaking you keep paying. Size up the cost situation and if it's worth it to you to have it done right with really good components the first time or take your chances with something of lesser quality and just have to pay to have it done all over again..

Just my 2 Cents =-))
