OK, so the jimmy i have has approx 400 miles on a freshly rebuilt transmission
I decided to check the tranny fluid when cold, autozone znet told me this..
With the engine running at a low idle, remove the dipstick, wipe it clean and then reinsert it firmly. Be sure that it has been pushed all the way in, then pause 3 seconds. Remove the dipstick again and check the fluid level while holding it horizontally. The fluid level should be between the upper notch and the FULL HOT line. If the fluid must be checked when it is cool, the level should be between the lower 2 notches.
So i pulled the dipstick, noticed the fluid is a bit dark (but not burnt smelling and still redish)
And for ****s sake its all the way up above the hot line.. like up to where that small notch is cut out of the dipstick
Im assuming whoever rebuilt this transmission overfilled it and i should probably have it flushed and refilled asap to prevent and further damage to the bands and clutches.
BTW its a 1988 GMC s15 2.8L auto 4x4
Its not slipping or shifting weird yet, is it possible the damage probably isnt that bad?
