Reverse goes:
P-N-R-1-2-3
It keeps you from pushing the shifter up into reverse, neutral or park.
so what would a forward shift be? P-N-R-3-2-1?

Yeah. Forward is the stock pattern.
ok so if you were in 1st you would push forward into 2nd, so forward pattern... ah lol

I'm pretty sure it's called reverse because the stock shift pattern has been reversed...lol. It wasn't until recently that I have heard of forward. It was always called stock.
