View Full Version : Quick Question about Body Bushings
Do you have to grease body bushings when you replace the stock bushings with poly ones?
Thanks.

Nope. No movement so no noise.

mine are fine with no grease
I bought Prothane body bushings. And for some reason theyre a little different than the stock ones. Is this normal? I ordered the right ones too.

They are a different shape. Post pics. I have the energy suspension parts but imagine they will be similar.

yea i have the same
Just looked at the box and it says '82-'00 s-series trucks standard cab. So I know I got the right one.
Top left in pic- Top Body Mount (6 were included)
Top right in pic- Top Body Mount (2 were included)
Bottom in pic- Bottom Body Mount (8 were included)
Thats enough to change all the body mounts. The problem is that the 2 smaller top poly mounts I got are to small for any of the body mounts on my truck. The only place I can figure out where they go is the rear cab mounts because the bigger poly mounts wont fit through the hole. The bronze sleeve on the mounts have to go through the hole. But the smaller poly mounts are too loose in the hole. Im just confused.

I sent an email to Prothane. Maybe theres a mix up. :shouldershrugg:
I said f-it today. Decided just to open up the rear cab mount hole a little with a hole saw. Just a few mm. The big top body mount fit right in after that. Now I have all the same size body mounts and I feel alot better now. Guess ill have to order another kit and just sell the rest.
:bump: Maybe ZQ8 body bushings are different?

They sent you the extended cab kit but it's not a big deal. The top left in the pic go on the rad support and the front of the cab. The top right go on the back of the cab. You should have 2 lower bushings that fit the top right tightly.
Having room for the bushings move is fine, that's how the cab is adjusted. Make sure you place the bushings with the oblong hole going side to side rather then front to back.
Before you start measure from the pinch weld to the frame on both sides. Only do one side at a time to keep the adjustment close. After they are all in and loose you can make any adjustments. Make sure your hood opens and closes properly before you tighten all the bushings.
You should have 2 lower bushings that fit the top right tightly.
Nope. All the lower bushings that were included are all the same size and it doesnt fit the top right bushing tightly. It doesnt make any sense.
Thanks for clearing that up. I didnt know about the oblong hole thing, but it makes sense.
