Well, my transmission is acting stupid. lol and transmissions aren't my specialty. Anyway, I was going down the mountain on the highway today and it was like someone slammed on the brakes and let off real quick. It was faster than a person could actually do it but I'm pretty sure it happened due to something going on with my tranny. It just lurched real hard. Then, coming up the mountain on my way back home (still on the highway), I was losing speed very quick and the motor was screaming. I went from cruising at about 75 (in overdrive) down to 55 in a matter of seconds then stayed around 45-50. It was seriously at about 5000 rpm and I was hardly going anywhere. It sort of felt like it was slipping but it's definately sluggish and I don't think it's the motor. anybody have any suggestions?

And I was planning on asking this next question BEFORE this other stuff started happening but it doesn't go into overdrive until about 71 or 72 mph.....and when it drops back out of it, it's back in 3rd (i think)...motor screaming again.....what's happening there? :boggled_1

transmission fluid is new and full....has 104,000 miles on it.

Sounds like the 3-4 clutchpack is going out.
If you are in OD, does it do it? If you are in D does it do it?
What does the fluid look and smell like?

thanks man. I can count on you to chime in. after it sat for a few months, it had a line leaking but I replaced it and filled it up with about 4 quarts of fluid. I didn't drive it when it didn't have fluid. I'm wondering if I should even bother changing out the filter. I haven't tried it in D. I will tomorrow. it only struggles in 3rd or 4th.

maybe it's time to swap to a 5 spd. I wanted to anyway and I found a blazer with everything I need in the junkyard. it wouldn't be too hard, I don't think. what do you think?

how much life does it have left (if it's the 3/4 clutchpack)??
