I have access to all parts to do a turbo setup on my truck. I have a 4.3L 2000 s10 sfi motor with 120k on it. What i am wondering is it worth putting 5psi of boost on the motor, will it be worth all the work?

I'd say it would be worth it - you're looking at easily 50+ hp if you set it up and fuel it correctly. If the motor's in good shape and you can get enough fuel to it it'll easily handle 10 psi - some guys have even pushed 20 psi on a stock 4.3 for a while with exception tuning. It's all about the tune though, you can kill it with just a few psi if you screw up the tune.
I don't know a whole lot about turbos yet but I'm guessing the stock T-type unit would be a bit on the small side. Fine for low boost but you'll quickly reach it's limit if you start pushing it.

i was planning on using a fmu to increase fuel pressure per psi of boost and monitor it with a wideband it works exceptional on imports and have seen it done in a few v8s but i know if i wanna increase boost i would have to find a way to get it tuned. the t type is a 3.8l if im not mistaken it should satisfy the 4.3 at low boost

but 50hp at 5 or 6 psi seems like a lot what numbers are the supercharged guys running at that same boost

At 6-7 psi most guys get between 65-75 hp with a S/C and proper fuelling. I say a minimum of 50 hp with a turbo @ 5 psi but it would likely be more. You don't have to waste power turning the headunit with a turbo - turbos generally see more power at the same psi than S/C's, especially with the low end S/C's available for the 4.3.

do you mean if you're not so budget minded?

agreed - just wanted to make it clear that an FMU was much cheaper

The stock GN/T-Type turbo flows 550cfm and will support 350hp.
It's bigger than the Mitzu turbo that came stock on the Sy/Ty's.
A FMU is a great way to order a new engine. Please don't use one!
The stock manifold and injectors will handle under 10psi fine.
You'll need HPTuners to change your Fuel and timing. You'll need a wideband O2 also.
The Marine intake is a great peice that is cheap on e-bay.
