What are the advantages and disadvantages of welding compared to bolting on 4link rear suspension (non air bags) on a 01-03 S10?

What are you looking to do with the truck?
If you are looking for handling the control arms are too short and the geometry is poo (unless you are an inch off the ground) with the bolt on kits. Some of them never have good geometry.

With both the weld in and the bolt on, you'll have to relocate your fuel tank or get a fuel cell.

I would imagine the weld in would be stronger though. I have a weld in 3 link and it's still holding strong.

But like Big Ryan said... If you don't have access to a welder, I'm sure the bolt in would hold fine. If you installed it wrong the first time, it would be much easier to fix compared to the weld in. I guess that would be a BIG advantage.
