i was looking for stuff to buy for the bravada and wondered about ignitions, i narrowed it down to 2 models
1.Accel 300+ Performance ignition
2.MSD 6A
i noticed that the accel doesn't have a CARB# so i take it that its not gonna pass the smog police, but other than that which is the better one, i had a 6AL on my, now my brothers, blazer and liked it, but wonder is there actually a difference? thanks alot guys....

MSD is the first one made and the only I'd go after. No splice, no fuss, works for many years. Ive run them over 12 years on 2 different vehicles before. AL isnt needed except for racing where overreving can be more occurante!

MSD 6A, all the way -- unless you're going with some boost -- then MSD 6BTM.
6AL is just a 6A with a built in rev limiter. If you've got an automatic, just go for the 6A. Accel is decent, but I prefer the MSD -- personal preference.
Or you could look into a Jacobs -- they're a bit pricey, but the guarantee a power gain (or they used to).

any difference with msd on a pretty stock truck? or not worth it?

On even a 100% stock truck it'll give you better spark. You'll have better throttle response (through all rpm) and if you keep your foot out of it, you'll get better fuel economy (and less emissions).

I got the MSD 6A and like it. A good investment.

nice, that solves it for me, i know i got the 6AL because the CSK person up here didn't realize that there was one in that box, i paid for a 6A however.....lol
and i do agree 100% i will always back the MSD brand because they have never let me down yet, i was wondering about the accel on why it was way more than a MSD, but that solves it....
MSD all the way!!

everyone swears by 6a with good reason.
msd & accel not excel ;-) (http://www.truckperformance.com/products/?searchtype=d&sortorder=DAA&productcategory=Ignition+Systems&category=Engine+%26+Performance&sf1=CHEVROLET&sf2=1998&sf3=S-10+Pickup&sf4=4.3l) also taylor makes ignition systems or at least wires and jacobs...just in case MSD is a little to $$$$

You can get part number 121-8877 from http://www.jegs.com/cgi-bin/ncommerce3/ProductDisplay?prrfnbr=3064&prmenbr=361 and it will make the install so much easier. I had one for my 6A. I have a MSD Digital 6 now but I'm waiting until summer to install it. I'll be putting mine where my battery used to be because it is now in the bed.

I need to fiberglass a box over it or something to clean it up a bit.

I'll be reloctaing the battery to the bed soon. I'm thinking of going with a dual battey setup. Should I run them in parall or in series? Or can I have it setup for one to run the starter and igntion, and the other to run eveything else?

Single battery should be fine. I have a yellow top optima. Dual batteries would put a strain on the charging system unless you isolated them.
