this summer will be the third summer that i've had my non ac truck...it gets pretty painful when you have to sit in traffic when its pouring rain and its 95 out and you cant open the windows haha...i've thought about installing ac in it but i'm told that its pretty "involved"...i can get all the parts at the junkyard for 250 which i think is a good deal...has anyone ever done this and how hard is it?? am i crazy or is it worth is?? thanks...... oooo i've seen kits online but dont remember where...anyone know where to look??

It would be highly involved and a down right pain in the ass to install AC into a vehicle that didnt allready have it, but is doable with plenty of time and patience. Dash etc all has to come out and be replaced for a factory unit. Comp changes may have to be made.
BUT
I'll b*tch slap the both of you!!! Act like someone older than me.
Both of you live in comparable climates to me.
Both are probably sick enough of winter and youve said, CANT WAIT TILL SUMMER GETS HERE, I'm so fking sick of winter.
I got allmost 2 feet of snow on the ground, its teens and 20's at best and it March.
Well when summer gets here and I also cant wait I'm gonna go with the flow and hope I roast me ass off in 90 degrees and wont even consider turning my AC on. Never used it and never will.
Damn Northerners, its too cold, turn the heat up, cant wait till this fking winter ends so I can complain its too hot, I want winter back, turn the AC on!!!!!
Dont worry guys, I say the same thing to the wife when she does it!
yeah jedi everyone I know does the same thing. dont get me wrong when i'm hot i wanna cool when I'm cold i wanna be warm but theres no need to b*tch about it. and I'm not saying you guys are *****ing about it cause I love my ac.
<=== Will laugh at the lot of you this summer from the 40 degree bliss that is my ac equipped Blazer.

i just need a new compressor just don't have the money for it and if i did would rather have performance parts first..lol....it actually hasn't been to bad in recent summers so when it does get bad enough i will fix it....my dad redid his ac on his 96 suburban and when he checked the temp out of the vent it was like 38 degrees...

Soo. . . Tell us how you REALLY feel!
Sorry, but I LIKE winter -- nice and cold. The only reason I want THIS winter to end is because I've got a few new toys on the truck and want to see what difference they make for Auto-X! Other than that, winter is great! The house stays at around 68-70 degrees YEAR ROUND -- wife complains it's too cold. . . "Put on a sweater!" is usually my response. Come summer time, she refuses to drive anywhere with me -- the A/C goes FULL blast the entire trip!
But, as to the topic at hand: I've done ONE vehicle that didn't have A/C and the customer ("back in the day" -- don't do that anymore for a living, just fun) wanted A/C -- as close to factory as possible. It's expensive as hell (and I'm just talking parts) and about as labor intensive as anything I can remember. Needless to say, I'll never do it again!

summer 2004 was my first summer without a/c...pouring down rain, hot and humid..i know that. but otherwise 80mph down IH-35 ain't too bad. i'm ready for an alternative to a/c....though i don't know what new technology exists that would help out. i suppose i should fix it this spring...

My truck doesn't have A/C either. The only time I wish I had it is when it's hot and raining. Otherwise get you a nice sounding exhaust and roll down the windows and listen to it rumble. I think trying to put in an A/C would be very difficult.
