I bought a throttle body spacer off of ebay with a helix bore on it, a long time ago when i first got my truck. When i installed it, and it seemed to accelerate better/ and it didnt bog down as much at idle when the clutchfan came on.
now, i was reading import masters bolt on list, and i noted something about throttle body spacers doing very little for SFI engines, why is that?

Its because the spacers are designed to add plenum depth/size so that the fuel added at the point of the throttle bore , carbed-TBIed etc, atomizes better. The spacer makes the air slow in the bore since the bore it longer and allows it to mix better.

Ours is a dry intake arrangement were fuel is added right near the valves, so the principle of better atomazation is gone. All it does is add size on the plenum and the helixs make them whistle, that alot of times makes people think it works. But its like a pop bottle effect, does nothing to air flow, it creates a vacuum over the ridges to produce sound!

I thought the powerdyne spacer was proved to be ok?? on our 4.3L. As it acts like a plenum spacer(vararam) and compress/speeds up the air flow...
