Look in your engine bay and the accessory with the pulley the same or almost the same size as the crank pulley is the AIR pump. It basically is a very low pressure pump that puts outside air into your exhaust. Leftover hydrocarbons cant burn without fresh air. Your cat also needs air to burn carbon monoxide (turns it into CO2).
I think that should answer your question, if it doesnt look here----> http://www.autoshop101.com/forms/h65.pdf
It is a toyota AIR injection system but all of them work in similar ways.
it depends on where you live.
I don't have an A.I.R pump so that makes my life easyer

JJ's got the ideal right, wrong style and location. All newer S10's will have and electronic controlled air pump just under the pass side of the radiator. A single line then will come off of it and enter the engine bay around the alt. and split into a T at that point. One rubber line goes to the pass side manifold, and one to the drivers side!
