I'm considering buying a 2001 bravada. Here is the scenario. It has 28000 miles which is awesome. Interior and engine and drivetrain all looks clean. But it was salvaged. Carfax does say it was salvaged. And the mileage books out correctly. It doesn't say exactly why it was salvaged. It has some damage on the front right side. Front door only opens half way. Price tag is 3800. He got it for 3200. Should I buy it?

I bought my truck salvaged and got a great deal on it. It's the best truck I could ever ask for... aside from the headlights being wired up wrong, but that's just a minor thing.
Just because I had a good experience with a salvaged truck doesn't mean you will though. You should look at the Bravada from top to bottom, or have it looked at by a certified mechanic... or both lol.
and of course, take it for a drive. Never buy a vehicle without driving it.

i have already taken it for a test drive and checked it... runs great.. the guy... (who owns is own little car sales shop) has been very straight up... told me everything. showed me all his papers with the price he paid for. only problems i see is that the right side has some damage.. maybe 1000$ worth in repairs.. it is a silver edition... has all the goodies inside. ima take it to a body guy and a mechanic today to spec it out.

used is always a crap shoot salvaged or not. The worst vehicle I ever owned I bought off the lot with only a few miles on it. The best had over 60,000 on the ticker when I bought it.

If that's how you're going to look at it, then go for it :p
Taking it to a mechanic before you buy it would be best, though. I'll give you a big pat on the back if you really do take it one lol.

i also have bought a truck with a salvage title look under neath check the frame and cross members for bends and kinks ......its fairly easy to write a vehicle off nowadays it seems ......dont take much of a hit if possible find out who fixed it and how it was done ?

I agree. My mom struck a deer with her dodge intrepid last year. Al that needed to be replaced/fixed was a front fender and washer fluid tank, but when the insurance adjuster came to look at it "it was totaled." I agree with everyone saying have a mechanic look at it/ be careful, but a salvage title really isn't the end of the world (sometimes)

Ya. Sure did. I took it to 2 mechanics and a body guy. Has bout 750 in body repairs. Frame is good not bent. Only problem is the right lower control arm needs to be fixed or replaced. So I talked him down to 3500. And we mad the deal. It needs a sick allignment still. I'm excited about it. My gf will be driving it mostly. Since our baby due date on the 15th may. Only reason why I was looking for 1. I do have low of plans for it like my sonoma. Now I got 2 projects! No! Lol. Ty guys for all the support
