quicker ratio than zq8?

I guess this is the most fitting forum for this....


I put the zq8 steering box on, and though it was a noticeable improvement, I'm looking for something a little tighter. What other vehicles' steering gear will fit on our trucks that will give a smaller ratio? It's been awhile since I've driven a camaro, but I know I like the ratio of a crustang. So something comparable to this is what I'm after. And used is good, unless there's no other options

Ideas anyone?

The ZQ8 box is the same, if I'm not mistaken, as the Camaro box. As to an even closer-ratio box, I don't believe there is one -- unless you could adapt one from a 'Vette (but I don't know how difficult it would be even IF it could be done).

I can't quite remember... is the stock ratio 17:1, and the zq8 12.7:1 ?? I guess once I find out what the zq8 one is, I can search away from there.

I'll have to check up this, but I thinck u can use a vega box. They'er 2 1/2 turns lock to lock.

no they have a power steering version. their not actually vega boxs. they'er completly remanufactered sterring boxes in a vega caseing. I get them from rb oboslete. Most people use them for the mustang II front end conversions on classic trucks, but i need get ahold of someone to do some checking to see what would work on an s-10.

i was wondering about the vegas, i've seen them everywhere. i was on the flaming river site (gonna be expensive, i know) and they had some badass lightweight aluminum ones.. but they of course were manual. not trying to go that route just yet.

Supposedly there's a box that's made available to circle-track drivers that's custom mde for the A/G-bodies that has a ratio of 1/2-turn lock-to-lock. I think it's in a circle-track builder's parts catalog, IIRC.
