View Full Version : Blazer front brakes on s10
So I was reading some car magazine and I found an article about taking 98 2wd blazer front brakes and putting them on 2wd s10s. What all do I need to do that? Can I just buy the calipers and rotors and bold them right in? Or are the blazer spindles different?

Spindles, calipers, rotors, possibly brake lines and the super expensive hubs.

The Blazers with RWDisc have DPiston front calipers. The spindles are different and have sealed hub/bearing assemblies. Makes for rotor change easier. But those bearings are expensive to replace. There is a cheaper alternative on e-bay I saw once.
Best idea is to get the spindles off a salvage truck...preferable one without front end damage. Ive seen many in the 'yard with front collisions and the spindle/tierod part is cracked from the impact.
Then get some good aftermarket rotors. EBC makes some nice ones.
Buy the new hubs.
The used DP front calipers are ok but I would search for a rebuild kit prior to making the purchase.
Then just get some good pads.
2WD and 4WD spindles are different but look similar.

Direct bolt on? For the spindles & calipers or just the calipers? I might be interested in the swap if I only needed to do the calipers.

You have to use the spindle, caliper mounting is completely different.

..& that's what I thought needed to happen. Eh, the conversion isn't worth my time unless there were some cheap 2" drop spindles for the DP.

With drop spindles the C6 setup can be cheaper depending on where you buy the parts.

Can you just you custom brackets so that you can mount the DP brackets without using the blazer spindle?

yeah... those are some huge wheel spacers...
why in gods name would you want that much?
Just get some wheels that are wider and less back space.
