Yeah, so after about a year of dreaming about turbo charging/supercharging, etc. etc. I have come to the realization that working on the 4.3 itself is too damn expensive/time consuming. Not tom mention my truck has 85000 miles on it. So, now that im finished with the cosmetic mods on my truck. I think its done enough to suit me. So, when i was at a freinds house in batavia one day, he told me about a 454 block and transmission they were trying to get rid of in their garage. That got me thinking. I have an old 305 thats in good condition sitting in out in an 89 silverado out back of our barn. Now, Im gonna start looking for a decent 89-93 southern s-10 4x4, and just take my time and build it up into a V8 AWD pickup truck. I have done V8 swaps before, but not into a truck, so this may be a challenge, But it is a challenge ill be looking forward to.

Ps, the 305 is gonna be reworked from top to bottom before i buy a truck. I live like 3 doors down from a motor machinist. Hopefully ill be able to get this done by next summer :D

i've heard 4 wheel drives are the easiest to put a v8 in but normally they take out the 4wd an just make it a two wheel drive. i think its got to do with the frame rails being farther apart or something like that. but an all wheel drive v8 would be cool. keep us updated

I've owned S10's for over 20 yrs. now, converted over 6 into V8's, only 1 with 4wd which I still own. Believe me 2 wd is alot easier and cost effective. There's a book that you should get with all the helpful info, part#'s etc. JTR or Stealth. Jags that Run, it's about 20.00 but well worth every penny if it's your first time. Good luck, if done right there's nothing like a V8. I bought a new 03 S10 Crew and tried something different and put a SC in. Lot easier but alot less power but good on gas. The early S10's are alot easier in my opinion and a 305 is basically all you need for power unless you plan to race...Check the book out, it will help you alot...

yes, i already have the v8 swap manual, and i heard that the biggest problem with the 4x4 swap is the fact that you need a special oil pan to provide clearance for the front transfer case
