OK, as far as I know there shouldnt be oil in the PCV hose going into the TBI. I noticed a little oil inside my air cleaner, so I pulled the PCV hose off and there was some oil in it too.
What gives? This engine only has 2k miles on it!
PCV valve is stuck open. Go to autozone and get another one for 5 bucks

The PCV valve is brand ****ing new... Oh well
take it out and rattle it. if it doesnt rattle, then it is busted.

Only thing I can think of is blow by, your rings arn't perfect (none are).
wrong pcv valve or or the pcv system isn't hooked up right. check your hoses and vacume diagrame. When's the last time you replased your canister filter?
at 2k the engine still needs some break in. Take a hyway trip at least 200miles then change the oil. It should have been changed at 1500 if it's a new engine anyway. Some oil will be acceptable untill the engine is broke in properly.
If you bought the valve from a autoparts store it's probally the wrong one and not calibrated right for your engine. These are not servicable, if it has a weak spring in it it'll stay open and it just landfill. If your bought a crate engine and the pcv valve was already in it you should get a new one anyway because that is just there to help keep trash out of the engine. There is no telling how long it's been sitting and it's probally the wrong one anyway. Just because it rattles dosn't mean it's any good. i get mine from the dealership because the autostore ones never fit right.

hehe, my charcoal canister isnt even hooked up. Actually none of my emmisions related components are hooked up except for the PCV system.
It is actually a Delco PCV valve.

in that case just vent the hydrocarbon onto the ground. That why it aint working right. Your pulling too much vacume through the pcv valve and sucking the oil into you pcv system.

From my experience, its not unusual to have a little oil in the PVC valve or the associated hose. It sucks air from inside the valve cover where all kinds of oil is flying around. The oil will get drawn into the carburetor or throttle body and burned with the fuel. It's no big deal.
T Man's advice was right on, if it rattles, it works and there's nothing more you need to do.
First, high vacuum CLOSES the pcv valve
2nd, a weak spring would drw LESS air as the plunger is drawn towards the orifice opening
The spring just happens to push the plunger down against the inlet, the outlet(part the hose hooks to) is the orifice

how much do the pcv valves usualy cost from the dealerships? i have an autozone one in there right now and plan on getting it out of there...is it that big of a deal to use a dealership valve? how much difference could it really make??
on the new trucks it's a big deal because the aftermarket valves don't fit right. you can also go to napa if you don't want to deal the dealership. On the old trucks it's do big of a deal, but you still the right valve for the application and it must fit tightly in the gromet.
it's not only for venting hydrocardon and reliving pressor in the cranck case but the vacume from this system actually helps the rings seal better giveing you a little more hp
