So my 95 2wd extended cab s10 weights 3600 with half a tank of gas and with me in it. It has the 4.3 and auto trans. I just looked up how much a 1st gen truck weights and a regular cab 4 banger auto trans is around 2800. When i put my 350 in it i was planning on putting aluminum intake, heads and water pump on it to reduce the weight. I just recently bought an aluminum drive shaft so that will lighten it up too. But i was wondering what makes the 1st gen trucks so much lighter? And what i can do to lighten mine up some more. I also took the back seats out, haven’t re weighed it yet.

The body is 2" narrower and the second gens have more structure. Also on the second gen part of the frame is boxed.

The extended cab adds waight too. 4 banger is lighter too. If it is a manuel shift it is lighter too. If it don't have air another story.... Look and see what a first gen extended cab 4.3 if they made one with a 4.3 if not look at one with a 2.8 and auto. It will be close.
