I've got a manual, but it's dated with bad pictures... can't seem to find either.

Fuel pump is in the tank if it FI and on the block if it's carbed.
My 87 with the 2.5 had the fuel filter under the hood on drivers side.
Fuel filter is in the carb. Pump is in the tank

The fuel pump is in the gas tank and the fuel filter is between the power steering pump and engine block. Its a PITA to get to either one.
Good luck.

it isnt a real pain to get to the pump or the filter on the 2.8, the way I change pumps that are in the tank on trucks is pull the bed bolts and tilt the bed up at 45 degrees and support it with a 2x6, makes it very easy.
For the filter, the bottom hose is just clamped on, get a line wrench (what I use) and remove the steel line from the top of the filter then it will fall down from the bottom of the truck, it is supported by a bracket that holds it in place. The only thing I fight with is getting the line fitting threaded back into the new filter. I had to take it off of the throttle body then attach the filter
