Hey I installed an aftermarket tach and transmission temp gauge in a 1993 GMC JIMMY. I wired the tach to the coil from the ignition wire behind the light switch and powered the light to the gauges from the light switch for the headlights. Both gauges were grounded. Almost immediately I had issues. First I blew a fuse the next day. Then the truck would start with no issues then all of a sudden it would turn over but will not start. It gets gas but, the spark is sporadic. Yesterday the line going from the ignition to the tach melted. I had used 18 gauge wire but I replaced it with a heaver wire and the truck still won’t start. Have any ideas? What would cause it to short? What did I do wrong? Thanks
