Not necessarily. It depends on the motor. The L35 for the 94-95 years was the 195 chp CPI engine -- more hp than any other year S-Series. So, they can't exactly be called "slow."

In 1996 GM switched to the SFI motor -- rated for 180 hp/190 hp. The SFI is the same motor from '96 on -- so it would be about the same as a '98+. Of course, that also depends on other mods and the general mileage on the motor, as well as the overall condition of the motor as well.

Not all TBI's are slow.I have smoked several CPI and SFI 4.3's.Of course my truck isn't stock but not far from it.The gears being my biggest gainer.And if I get the TBI Wynjammer watch out!!

Haven't been over that way for any substantial length of time -- but I know what you mean. It's amazing how the Cavy guys talk smack. I drive one EVERY day -- I know how slow they are. . . Granted, I don't have a heck of a lot in the way of mods, but unless it's been turboed or S/Ced a Cavy isn't all that fast, regardless of mods.

I don't doubt his win at all.It's not so uncommon for a car with less power to beat one with more power.Driver experience and skill plays a huge factor.So I say two thumbs up for Import for schooling a truck of greater power.

RKSport has a supercharger kit for the new ecotec motors in the Cavy's and it says in their catalog that it will guarantee it will put you into the 12's. I couldn't find it on their website but it is in their catalog.

The ecotec engines are actually some pretty rugged and durable engines.A few guys around here locally own late model J bodies putting some decent amount of power through them.The oldest boy of a guy I work with has a Sunfire taking in a 100 shot of juice.Little car is wicked quik for a Sunfire.I like it cause the kid didn't rice it out.Only think done to the looks is a tint job and some larger rim and tires.No body kits or wings or nothing.Only thing about the car that looks funny to me is when he puts the racing slicks on it to go to the track.Front wheel drives just look weird as hell with slicks up front.But it gets the job done so more power to him.And atleast they are still american powered so to speak.

Import, I call bull****. I drove a 99 std, cab, 5 spd with a 2.2 extreme. All weekend It had a headder, Full exhaust, Intake, and darn near all the boltons you are packing, minus the weight you have, and it was a turd. It pulled sorta hard through 1st, but in 2nd it fell off. It was slower than my truck is.

Actually they're were some S10 and Sonomas made with the CPI 4.3 in them.They are not very common but they're were some made.And I can believe he beat a 4.3 with his truck.The other guy might not know what the hell he's doing or he could have had a crappy running ride too.

The guy didnt show up this weekend but I am bound and determend to get this on tape, I have friends that drive 2.2's and they all say my truck will smoke the **** out of theirs. I talked to a guy today that raced him and he said he took the guy w/ a v-6 off the line but when he hit 2nd the v-6 won. Yeah this guy may not know how to race but HE did line up w/ me and I DID KICK HIS ASS. So in other words I beat a V-6.

ps- i love trans amsI have decided to start out with a 75 shot and see what needs to be adjusted from there.I would love to get down in to the mid to low 11's after it's all said and done.Im gonna try and get it installed this weekend hopefully.Then im gonna test and tune to see what works best.I have a few flash files some friends give me from LS2.com to try out first.I get giddy just thinking about it lol.

Jon, I gotta call BS on you here. My ZR2 has 31's and bodylifted, which slows me down a hell of a lot. All I have done, is the FM40 dumped exhaust.

Today, a lowered 2.2L Reg Cab started following me, til we hit a red light. I wasnt even trying to race, and he jumped off the line, so I punched it. I was caught back up, and passed him within not even 200 feet. Proceeded to do this, til he rolled down his window at a light, to ask me what my truck had. Because his had exhaust, and intake, and wanted to know how I beat him--he thought his was fast.

Either that guy diidn't have a V6, something was wrong with it, or he can't drive for s***.
