I want to stick with the 60v6 engines, but i want some power out of them too. Right now i have a stock 85 2.8 with the 2bbl. I want to stay carb'd. I've considered finding a short block 3.4 from an early 90's camaro and building it up. Do you think thats my best route, or is there something i can do with my stock block n'****e
thanks

You could do the camaro build up, but to tell you the truth, upgrading to fuelinjection will be your biggest boost. Headders, spacer, Exhaust, pulleys. Talk to JJ, he has all the bolton stuff

What's your budget? If you have the money then the 3.4L short block would work nice. A new carb and manifold from edelbrock would be great and a nice set of headers.

Ya i was thinking of 3.4 from the camaro with edelbrock intake, headers and cam...probly do it as a full roller motor.i want it done up nice and built strong enough so i could throw a little nitros or maybe even a supercharger. I want to stay carb'd cause i dont want all the computer and wiring BS
There is absolutly nothing wrong with my engine right now, so untill it starts making the old truck noises and leaking like a ford, im gonna run it.
have you ordered you free lmc catalog yet?

Ya i have the LMC book
Its a huge rip off for me ordering from them cause it costs an arm and a leg to ship across the border

Not very many bolt on's for the 2.8, thats what makes it fun. Your option include an edelbrock intake and cam combo or just the intake with another cam. You could go with a better carb because the edelbrock manifold has 2 tops for 2bbl and 4bbl.
As far as the custom stuff, I will make a list for you later on.

I am going out right now for st. patty's day (I am gonna get hammered!) but I promise I'll have you a list of custom mods for the carb motor by saturday morning. I havent done much work with carb'd motors, so I will have to find a few things out first.

Sorry, I had a fiasco with 5 30yr old women and jello shots....just now recovering...
Anyway, first things first, do away with the EGR. To get rid of the EGR you need to go to a 180 t-stat to reduce the risk of detonation. Bump your timing up a tad (2-3 degrees). If you have one of those rochester electronic carbs, then ditch it and get something better.
Thats all I can think of off the top of my head, I'll work on getting some info on cazrb specific mods...

whats the EGR?

EGR is some of the exhaust gas going back into the intake manifold to lower combustion temps and reduse NOx. However it dielutes the mixture a lowers power.

yeah, any carb will work as long as you get the right CFM.
Anything over 350CFM on a 2.8 is way too much!
