I got a catalog the other day and decided to check out the web site: www.budk.com (http://www.budk.com) -- some pretty nice looking stuff. I don't know about the quality, but it's listed as 440 Stainless, for the most part.

I couldn't help myself, so I ordered this:

And this:

Pretty slick, or so I thought! Can't wait to get them. . . According to UPS, they should arrive Friday. Then the fun begins!

I'll be out in the driveway nailing wooden planks to my Cavalier, and mounting a dragon head on the hood -- time to go a-Viking!

Now I just need to get in touch with my friends Olaf and Ragnar, get some mead and we'll be good to go!

And here is what my next ride will probably be:

Or maybe this:

How about this:

Or this:

Don't know. . . It's got to have a dragon-prow, and plenty of room for the spoils of pillage and plunder. . .

Hmm. . . I wonder if some company makes superchargers for Longships. . . I'll need to look into that!

let me be the first to tell you...quality of the functional knives/weapons...is not that great. the only quality you can get out of their products is from Boker and Smith & Wesson...and United products..which are usually knives from movies. don't believe it if the product description says functional. trust me i know. even the solid 1 piece forged throwing knives (which should be high quality) are not the greatest. Hibben Knives appear from time to time and are good...but not functionally...more like display. display items for display well what can i say...they are great for display. don't you dare try to use that 15th century war hammer if you are so inclined to order it.

your a smart man...you should know whats up. to think that a 3 piece samurai set for $70.00 is quality...i have 1 sword samurai sword that cost 4 times that...

So, I'm guessing you're familiar with budk. . . I figured it was too good to be true! But, if nothing else, they'll look good hanging on the wall. I've got another sword (needs the handle welded -- the tang is broken) that IS functional (well, once it's fixed), and quite sharp.

Of course, the swords are just glorified toys. . . My SPAS-12 and P-90 are much more serviceable.

Of course, the main thing to keep in mind: what in the HELL am I going to use a sword for in order to call it functional? The only functions of a sword are to hack limbs off, decapitate people or gut someone -- and I THINK there are laws against that around here. . . Of course, I could be wrong on that.

But, of course, if I DO get the urge to actually use a sword for what it was MEANT to be used for, I've got a MUCH better one that I can do that with -- once I get the tang re-welded and a couple notches ground out of the blade (don't ask. . .).

Believe me, I KNOW. . . The last sword I bought was close to $900, and it wasn't all that fancy -- plain pommel and hilt, but a really good blade. Sold it a while back -- shouldn't have, but I wanted TRUCK PARTS more than I really wanted the sword. Priorities -- at least I can use the truck SEMI legally, the sword is a different story!

see you know whats up. my samurai sword is functional its even got the makers mark etched into the blade. i am familiar with budkww, bought my throwing knives from them...i thought i was getting something quality but i didn't. but it worked out for the best...since i was just starting off...did i really want to shell out $25 per knife and end up damaging them cause i'm new to the sport?? nah...i bought 4 for $12 from budk...learned the art...then bought fancy throwing knives, stars, tomahawk...thats the way to do it. and if you want to get into sword fights without the possibility of losing a limb...grab you and your sons some cheap bokken... (http://www.centuryfitness.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CategoryDisplay?catalogId=10051&storeId=10051&categoryId=13673&langId=-1&parent_category_rn=13528&crumb=13501-13524) and have at it...

Heh.
Ruger P-90?
Or the FN P-90?

Big Difference.
Neither is a match for the 5.56 security system tho.

Interesting aqusitions tho.

If you need a deck hand with your Viking ship let me know. I have a rather large broadsword that can sever some limbs if the need were to arise.

Ruger -- I just noticed my typo -- it's not a P-90, it's a P-89 (my mistake, it was late and running on very little sleep). Those are about the only handguns I'll buy -- good quality (or they used to be, back when I bought mine) and they're not as overpriced as a lot of the other names.
