now, i have already done the mod previously brought up on the site, but i have to wonder though because i have noticed after helping a friend with a neon and they have the EGR "disabled" and looking around its a pretty common thing to do on high-mileage american sedans...neons, cavaliers ,etc.. that you just place a resistor in the sensor and block off the plate with a quarter.....
Now my question is for us with vastly bigger engines....would the mod work for me or not? or would it cause more problems that it would solve?

oh some background info:
The headers i was to install on my bravada where originally bought for my old '89, but i sold that truck and found the headers in the garage and was going to put them on the bravada but got side tracked and put it off....
Well i pulled the fenders last night and low and behold there was an EGR tube coming off that manifold.... funny because i did the mod and forgot..... the headers are for the non-EGR tubed trucks
What do i do? i could weld that fitting to my headers fairly easily or do something to the EGR system...but want to check my options first....
I guess if i had to i could sell off my set and get the correct set for my truck but i have only 14 days more with my mom outa town ( i use her truck while mine is under the knife) so what do i do?

If you can weld pretty good you'll need a tube and the end fitting and place it wherever the factory line may reach it, even if its off just one header tube!

I've never tryed this so don't yell at me if it doesn't work. A buuddy caped his by useing some copper pipe ends and sweating it with a propane torch just you would do with plumbing. He's a plumber by the way so he may have some secrete for getting disimular metals to bond.

were there any differences in the blocks on the 4.3? such as any changes during the years '89-01?

Heads where different. I was told but never confirmed that the ports are about in the same location, but the bolts holes are not. I know of 2 people over the last 5 years Ive spoekn to have used older long tube headers on the Vortec heads but had to do some reworking of the tubes and drill new mounting holes!

I had found some where a long article about the 4.3's it told everything from which factory each motor was made in to all the specs of the motors. I'm not sure where i found it but if i run into it again i'll post it. it would be good for the articles section (if thats not where i saw it).

once again thanks guys, i am going to check the bolt patterns on them to see if they are close or not

yea they did match right up, just how close are they supposed to be on the driver's side shock mount? because they are pretty tight up in there.....

My JBA headers for the Noma, the drivers side actually just tapped the shock mount. We bent that tube to clear by 1/32 cause it just didnt want to bend and never had a problem with it!

yea that was the problem we were having, but i found a set for sale with the EGR fitting on them so i will be shipping up a set of the ceramic coated ones from Sy-clone that way i won't have to modify the set i have....
