i have a 92 4 door blazer that i did a 350 swap last year, since then i have had problems keeping u joints in it, even with the heavy u joints, i finally got a set to hold now but i have a bent main shaft in my transfer case and a bad tranny now.

what do you guys suggest for a tranny and transfer case?

i currently have a 700r4 that was behind the 4.3 and a 231c transfer case.

i though maybe a 700r4 out of a fullsize and a 241c transfer case out of a fullsize? what do you guys think?

I don't really care who says what... a 4.3 trans is the same build as a V8 trans. The only difference comes when a 60 degree trans is brought up. They are the weaker trans.. not the 4.3's trans.
The transfer case out of an AWD Astro/Safari, Bravada or Sy/Ty is the same unit (IDK what case ID that is offhand) & has a rating of about 250-300hp.

X2... the only difference I have found in the 4.3L 700r4 and the fullsize is the governor. The earlier 700r4s were junk and gave the 700r4 a bad rep... there was a design change in 84.
Build correctly, a 700r4 is a good tranny and the NP231 is one of these best transfer cases - jeep guys swap to these from NP207s all the time.

i thought the change was in 87 it went from a 7 vane pump to a 10 vane pump or was it 10 to 13.

Lead feet will do that. Mine has 154,000 on it and shifts show room new. "knock on wood".

The change in the pump was about that time, but the change to enable you not to run lock-up was 84 - the big problem was that the lock up would fail or people would unplug it and burn up the tranny, giving the 700r4 a pretty bad rep.

The change to 13 vane pump from 10 was 92 - the 4L60, not electronic, but the better pump plus a few other internal modifications.

so i should be fine just replacing what i had with the same things then.
i figured the tranny wouldnt last long considering it had 185k miles on it when i did the swap. i just wanted to see if anyone though there was a better way to go.
