with headers it will! If not it might sound ok with a single outlet from the muffler. But really no matter what you do its still kinda sound riced out once you get to a certain RPM.

I had a Gibson muffler on mine and it sounded pretty good. It was a single out. Dual out wont sound any or much different.

You mean "header". lol It wont sound "riced" out if a resonator is installed to quiet the sound.

Hi,
I'm new to this forum. I have a 98 Sonoma with a 2.2 and a 5 speed. I'm thinking about a header too. Someone on another posted mention Al's Headers in California and I have found a listing for Pacesetter brand headers. I'm hoping to find a direct bolt-on header. I just don't know what a air injector is. I think that's the term noted on the Pacesetter. I don't know that much about engines and such.
I did find a direct bolt-on set for my 93 S-10, 2.8 V6 engine made by Edelbrock. The engine runs really good for having 267, 000 miles on it.

Im pretty sure air injection came on 2001+ models. Stay away from Pacesetter. Go for OBX or Al's header. Just dont get the header with air injection. The air injection headers have a bung on the header.

I have an Al's header on mine and it fit perfect. No problems so far.

Thanks for that information. did the header make a lot of difference in power? How do I order a Al's header? How much?

Yeah, the AIR is a part of the emission system. A tube or hose will be run to the stock manifold and a threaded bung will be present if you have AIR. I dont know what year they dropped it.
But like-wise on the 4.3's, there are EGR/AIR, AIR and std headers. Depending on year depends on what was on the truck emissions-wise. However, on my 2003, I used a header from a earlier year model which had an AIR bung. Since I didnt need that, I capped it off. Ive seen people do the same for a EGR equipped header on a non-EGR truck year.
Point is, if you dont have those emissions parts, you can use any of the headers. Just need to cap off those bungs. If you have those emissions parts, then you need to seek the header WITH those provisions.

I cant really say because when I installed it, I also installed a K&N intake and did the E-fan mod. But all 3 definately helped, and its no longer hard to drive up steep hills. There was a dyno test with the Al's header and it put out an extra 12 hp, if I remember right.

Ill have to search for the contact info for them. I paid $200 shipped brand new for mine, but thats because I got mine from somebody who was selling it.
