Hey everyone, I just ordered these last tuesday, should be in tomorrow or monday, tell me what you think. I'll put up a how-to on the install with pictures as soon as the lenses get installed.
look good, i got some on my truck and they look alot better than the factorys do and there an easy install.
you need the amber cornors. the completely clear illigale in all 50 states. It'll depend on the state as to how much the ticket are if there are any other regs in your city(worst case... they pull your regitration till you fix it)
these are the leagale ones.

you should be able to get away with just amber bulbs they might still be illegile but you could prob get away with them. i have a first gen s10 so it looks a little different but i got clears up front with clear bulbs and i've never had a problem.
the post 98 s-10 doesn't have side marker bulbs in the reflectors. the side markers are mounted in the headlamps. i don't know if you can tell R not but I do have the amber turn signal lights in mine. The corners i got came with them and card to verifiy the compliance with fedrale dot laws. It's gottn me out noncompliance tickets.
I have a set crystal clear headlights, cornors and tails for show, but being as it cost my bud 320bux for driving on the street with his, mine don't get put on till I'm where I need to be. i have the complete diamond clear for the a 1st gen as well, but you can't even find them anymore so they also stay put up.
the reason you can get away with clears on a 1st gen with the use of amber bullbs is most were made before the 100 yard visable amber reflector laws were in effect. they'er gandfathered in outher words(just like the 0.5% tint that came factory on my 84 camero)
chances are that is an old pic of the product. Due to some changes in the law, companeys that advertise dot leagle equiment are now held partly responsible. i'm not sure what happens to them, but I know it's caused allot of companey to start volentary recalls of aftermarket equipment that was adverticed as 50 state leagle if you call and complain(hid and non dot compliant colored lights are a biggy right now).

i thought completely clear tail lights were illegal but not turn signals. as long as you have some type of amber bulb then you dont have to worry about it. the turn signals on 98 and up s-10s dont have bulbs in that spot anyway so what would be the point?

DOT 108 Standards
Front turns must be either clear lensed with and amber bulb or amber lenses and using a clear bulb.
Rears must carry visible from the both sides, reflex reflectors of red and red lenses over the brake and turn bulbs. No red bulbs are given a 100% compliance to replace the red lenses.
No other colors are permited on the front or rear of the vehicle!

a friend of mine passed inspection even though he cleared out his sonoma headlights, guy said as long as there are amber bulbs, then he is fine.
The catch is not the lights themselves but the reflectors. DOT law requires that there is an amber side reflector on the front corners of the vehicle. On the second gens, if you remove the stock corners and put in the diamondclears with clear sides, you no longer have the amber reflectors which are required by law. These are the reflectors, not the lights. So you can have amber bulbs in the clear corners and with out the amber reflectors to go with it you are still illegal.
Now I do actualy run the completely clearn corners and it's been over a 2 years and no cop has given me any hassle for it (I also have amber pulbs in so at the right angle you can see and amber reflection in there). But I'm always at risk. (knocks on wood)
The clears I bought state very clearly in the box that to be DOT legal you must also stick the included circular amber reflectors withing 6" inches of where the clear corners were installed. Now since there is no way I'm going to install those ugly amber circle reflectors (looks like something you would by for your 7 year olds bicycle), I have to figure out some other way of getting a reflector on the front corners to be fully legal.

I got pulled over in WA on base for em' but here in Missouri I asked cops and they said as long as I comply w/ the light standards. I also have the Silvania blue/ amber bulbs $20.00 @ autozone and complement the clear turnsignals nicely. Although they are 100% street legal the cops still ask questions. I think as long as the turnsignals have white or yellow reflectors the cops wont mess wit ya'
