What is the best location on a s10 to mount the msd box? The firewall was the only open spot I could find. I have AC and its two whell drive.
the fire wall sounds fine. i would say just keep it away from anything thats gonna get real hot like the headers and you'll be fine

Move the battery to the bed. Then you should have plenty of room.

on my '91 I mounted it above the drivers side wheel area. Since I had taken all the cruise control crap out long ago, I had plenty of room.

Mine's in the top corner of the passenger side, fits snug under the cowl lip.

only prob with putting it on the firewall is that you WILL hear it!

its hard to explain, but you are gonna hear it working

it ticks really fast. thats the sound of the box sparking. I guess thats what you would call it. I personally like the sound.

The Capacitors discharge very rapidly and makes like Nomaboy said, a rapid ticking noise. XxinfaxX's father when they took my truck out for a test drive asked me if I had a fan stuck on, like the heater one. Nope said that was the MSD box, so thats kinda the noise it makes!

Does MSD not supply the rubber isolator stands anymore? They sure take care of the ticking.

No they dont, but that just isolates the vibration, but you can still here the noise when its mounted on the firewall!
thanks for all the info. I mounted it on the firewall with isolators. I do here the sound your talking about, but its very faint.

easy fix for that ticking sound , add some sound deadener in the area where the box is . cover about 1-2 SQft and you wont hear it .

kind of hard to do on the inside if it is high on the firewall. will require ripping out the whole dash and i wouldnt want sound deadener on the inside of my engine bay
