I wanna get these Proform 1.6 rockers. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/PRO-66915/ They come in a set of 16, but us 4 bangers only need 8. These are a direct bolt on to the '98+ motors. The stock rockers are 1.54, so these will give you a little better performance. Cost will be around $90 if somebody splits the set with me. I can give you more info about it if interested. Let me know.

From what I remember the how-to saying, they're only a "direct bolt-on" if you install the proper studs first. Otherwise, non-offset LS-engine would be more of a bolt-on... Not to mention the need for proper length push-rods.

Your are gonna have to swap studs and ARP is the only company that I know that makes a metric to standard stud kit and they are for v6s. You can use the 2.8 kit in your heads and just toss the extra studs aside.

Personally I would stay away from proform.

Yeah I know ill need studs. And also will have to either buy a valve cover spacer or mod the stock one. Thats what I was gonna discuss with whoever wants to split a set with me. I wont need pushrods though.

Why stay away from Proform? I know theyre made from aluminum, which isnt as strong as chromoly. Is that the main reason why you said that?

Proform is known for making crappy parts. I made the mistake of buying a set of them for a v8 and it seemed like none of them were the same ratio. In order to get the motor to run worth a crap we had to set each valve lash different and it was hell figuring it all out. Personally I stick with comp cams rockers now.

I do have a set of the proforms in 1.6 I'll let go cheap, lol.

I think if I were to go with anything... on my older LN2, that is... I'd go for a set of LT1 rockers from GMPP. Why? Because the older engine used metric studs & the LT1 did as well. There's you true bolt-on.

But still... To get the geometry right, you'll the correct length push-rods no matter which app it is.

Unless those rockers are self-guided...I wont be able to use them. But its something I would have to think about anyways.

The thing is I dont have the older engine and ill need self guided rockers. The older engine uses guideplates.

Anyways, I didnt make a post to discuss if this is a "real" bolt on or not. The valve cover needs to be modded or install a valve cover spacer too. I still consider this a bolt on with the right parts. Its not like you have to get custom made parts or mod something heavily. Hell, even some parts that are so called "bolt on" sometimes arent made correctly and fit.

I guess ill steer away from Proform. Maybe ill consider splitting a set of Comp Cams or something. Anybody?

Sorry 'bout that. It's just... well, you know how it is when noobs come on a forum and see something. They go out & apply it, then complain when it don't work right for them because they didn't read enough about it.

I'd like to take you up on it, but the money's too-tight right now. And, to be quite honest (No offense meant here!), I don't like doing dealing cross-country on parts unless it's directly with the dealer or manufacturer.

Thats ok.

I dont think im ready to buy rockers right now. I gotta do a tune up on the daily driver, so it might be a few more weeks until I get them.
