I just bought a 98 bravada with a top end noise . It sounds like a lifter , so I got a new set . I started to tear it down , but I got hung up at the upper intake plenum . I have all of the bolts out , but the fuel injector plug seems to be holding it on . What do I need to do to finish getting this thing off ? Also , the power steering bracket looks like it needs to be slid forward an inch or so to get the lower intake bolt out . I pulled 4 bolts out of the bracket , but something is still holding that on too . feels like something lower on the bracket . Any help would be appreciated . Thank you .

If you get all the bolts in the accessory bracket out it will lean forward. You must be missing one. Keep looking. The fuel meter body (I think its called) doesn't come off with the Plenum (upper intake). It had a "O" ring around it making it fit nice and tight into the plenum hole. If I remember right, there might be some clips on the side? The fuel meter body (or what you called a plug) is help by a metal bracket underneath the plastic plenum. Hang tight, I'm gonna try to find you a picture.

Yeah , how does the fuel injector plug de-tach from the upper plenum ? I seen inside where it bolted on , but I didnt want to break anything by forcing it out . I figured that it didnt even have to come off , but my luck there would have been bolts hidden underneath it .

Just push down on the plug and pull up on the plenum. See the orange "O" ring around the injector body in the pick? That is what is holding it on there so tight. It has to seal good to keep it leak free. I really don't remember if there is any clips or anything on the side of the inj body that need to be compressed. Make sure though. There is a guy on here that just did the lower intake gaskets on he truck and will probably be able to confirm this. If you have doubts just hang on a little bit and see if he replies. His name is JONGO. I'll send him a pm with a link to this thread.

Oh you suck! LOL! Your supposed to pull that part so you can clean everything. That's what I did. But then again I'm a little OCD at times. No wonder you did it so fast.;)

In my old age I have found out that you can't fix something that is not broke!!!!

Ok , yeah , the o-ring is what was holding it on . Now I'm about to start the re-assembly . I hope this fixes it . I did'nt notice anything unusual about any of the lifters or rocker arms . Thanks for the help . You guy's have a pretty good site . I will deffinitely be back to check it out more when I get some time .

Well , the new lifters did'nt fix the ticking noise . I'll be picking up the new pushrods and rocker arms in the morning . I have to confess , I'm a Ford guy , but have always seemed to have a blazer in the driveway . I have seen on a few ford v-8s like a little cap that goes on top of the valve stem . fords dont use the adjustable rockers , so I assume these are used to take up the tolerances lost on higher mileage engines . Do you guys think that would work on this engine ? The last 4.3 I had used the typical small chevy adjustable rocker arms . Why did they change ?
